Hi Cathryn, I like your topic. Very interesting articles. I will be making my first down south next year for a family reunion. My father was born in Lousiana but they moved to Arkansas when he was only about 2yrs old. I'm told I have a lot of family in both states. I guess I will find out next year. smile

I have family in Arkansas, too. And family is Mississippi. I have a job interview in my Dad's home county in MS next week.

I hope you have a great trip here. You should find some useful links to help you plan your trip!

I read your article from the Featured Article link and am so glad I did. I enjoyed this pleasant virutal tour of the park with you. We visited Natchitoches years ago. Do you know how long this park has been there?

Hi Kathryn,

Enjoyed your article. Parts of the SE have those "roadside attractions," many of which are quite good.

Have not spent much time in Lousiana, but hope to visit sometime. My parents loved the bayous.

Tom

I'm not sure how long the park has been in existence. It was not there when I moved from Louisiana in 1985, but was there when we moved back in 1991.

Thanks for visiting my topic. There are many good roadside attractions. They are often the subject of jokes, but most do not deserve it.

I hope you do get to visit my home state!

It was before 1985 that we visited and we saw the Christmas Lights on Cane River. That was beautiful!

In response to message posted by JButler:

The lights are wonderful! When my daughter was little, we often picnicked by the river. We were there one evening about 5 p.m. when the city cut the lights on. It was so magical to be sitting in Cane River park when the lights suddenly burst into color.
