» weather_doctor - Memories of Winter

Happy New Year Van,

Your great photos take me back to those Guelph years when I used to run, walk and ski along the Speed between Gordon and Kortright. I used to enjoy the trail along the river from the wildfowl refuge and the sewage treatment plant in the winter. The duck always seemed to be laughing at my skiing style. 8^>

We had some snow along the coast this past week, but Victoria city centre area was spared, dang it.
So I am left with the fading memories which your article so nicely reenergized.

» jerrib - Your photos are a spectacular addition

to your thoughts of winter. I have always enjoyed your writing; it has been a long time since I've read your work. I missed it. So calming. Your daughter is sure growing up.

» scuba_steve - Great article! Great Photos!

Van,

I enjoyed your article very much and your photos are superb. I too have just recently (within the last few years) begun to appreciate the beauty of winter. Up until just a few years ago I used to dread winter and once it arrived I would spend the entire season counting the days until spring. Now I accept it as part of nature's cycle and have found that some of my best nature walks happen in winter. Thanks for sharing your thoughts and photos with us!

» Joy Butler - Nature walks

Your photos and writing are wonderful. Thank you for allowing us to share your nature walks with you. I especially liked the photo link of the Eramosa River. The silver, gold and white colors are simply spellbinding! Living in south Texas, the only time I get to experience a view like this is in a photo. Thanks for sharing.

» Red - awesome...

Van,

Loved your December accounting. The photos are awesome. I especially loved the one of the ice palace. Thanks for keeping me in touch with what was happening in our part of the world in December. I was so busy working I didn't have time to enjoy it. However, there is lots of winter left and I will be exploring the area around my home.
