» oryza - "fetch"

Hi there!

I'm Oryza and I'm new to this forum. I hope to learn a lot from all of you!

I just got a new puppy, a Maltese.
She is very smart and playful.
In two days she already knew where to go "potty" although there were still a few accidents. :-)

She doesn't understand "fetch" though. How can I teach her what it is?
Any tricks?
Thanks in advance!
Oryza

Hi Oryza!
I'm sorry no one has been here to help you with your questions. Instead of doing tricks right now I suggest you get the book; What All Good Dogs Should Know, The Sensible Way to Train, by Jack Volhard and Melissa Bartlett. In this book you will learn about how to understand your dog and how to get your training off on the right foot. Leave the tricks for later. To teach your dog how to fetch you first have to teach; come, sit and give. Also look into obedience classes with a local "All Breed Club". Though the classes at the pet stores are ok their trainers do not have the background to help you with problems.

Good Luck with your new puppy...
