» jerrib - What a great article!

My husband put in a dog door for my sister and my kids put in a dog run.

Your article is very well written.

wow, this is great info, well researched! People should print it out and stick in their dog books for reference for building their own runs.

Thank you both. I really hope people will think about building a run and installing dog doors. It is so worth the time and makes living with your pets a lot easier...

MAN, I love my dog door. I can sleep in and not worry, and my dogs don't have accidents when I am out all day... smile

Another advantage of having a dog door is in case of emergancy. God forbid something should happen when you're not home. I have 4 grown children but at the time I installed the door they were teens. Though nothing ever happened I still worried one of them might forget something on the stove or forget to turn off a curling iron . At least I knew my dogs could get out in case of a fire.
