» keeper_frames - Bobbex-R for Groundhog Control

Where can I buy Bobbex-R to use for groundhog control? I have had a problem for 3 years now with groundhogs excavating around the foundation of my house, and after trapping 4 groundhogs, I've given up on that as a method to end the damage. Cayenne pepper worked well, but washed away with the first rain, so this Bobbex-R sounds like something to try.

» biogardener - How about gophers?

I am waiting for you to come up with a miracle cure for gophers. If I can't get rid of them, and I mean in a 20 acre hay field, not just in a garden, then they are going to take over in rearranging the landscape. They don't do any damage to plants, but their hills wreck farm machinery and caused me a $2000 job on my truck when I had to have the front end redone.

I can go around the hills when they are visible, but when the hay is high, I haven't a clue where they are and I still have to drive through the field.

I need help and I need it yesterday!

Do you have an illustration? I have this mental picture of that thing that Bill Murray tried to kill in 'caddyshack'

» stephenvantassel - Controlling woodchucks.

First, woodchucks are not gophers. Pocket gophers are a totally different species. Cage traps work well on chucks. I like the tomahawk 107 spring loaded double door. Set the trap in front of the den hole and funnel the chuck through the trap. NO bait. Set the trap at night. When he wakes up in the morning voila. YOu have a chuck.

If you use gas bombs, be careful of fire hazards. ONly use the bombs at night when the chuck is definitely in the den. My book has more information. If you don't want the book my booklet covers cage trapping. YOu can buy one at http://www.wildlifedamagecontrol.com/boo...

Help...I have waited all my life to have a beautiful garden and it is being eaten by these groundhogs!! I have a fence around my property and they have crawled under. I have sprayed my plants with hot stuff but they just wait. My neighbor who has lived in his home for twenty years has given up and will only grow certain flowers. To say I am fustrated is putting it lightly. I would trap them, but down the road is huge community of groundhogs. Do large dogs help??.....Any imput would be helpful...thank you The fustrated gardengirl

Dear Garden Girl,

I'm sorry about your garden. However, there is hope. Visit http://www.wildlifedamagecontrol.com/sol... click on groundhogs. There will be information on how to modify your fence to keep out woodchucks.

» careynev - List of plants groundhogs won't touch

Hi all--We, too, are struggling with a groundhog problem at our house. The biggest problem is that we love looking out our window and seeing the pudgy little critters, but they're eating a lot of our plants.

We have discovered they don't eat clematis, coreopsis, azaleas, lilies, or sedum.

They LOVED our yarrow and impatiens. And there's some bush-type plant that our landlord planted that we don't like and the groundhog loves it, so we were hoping he'd eat it all up, but it keeps coming back! Not sure what it is, though. Very persistent, that's all I know.

Anyone else know for sure of plants that will be safe from groundhogs? We'd like to do more planting, but don't want to waste our time/money/effort if our "friends" are going to eat them.

Thanks!
