» Scent - About Friendship

I've had an interesting read on this site about friendships and have had several very meaningful friendships in life (one, which up to now, has lasted nineteen years).

This particular friendship, started in Namibia (previously South West Africa) with a girl named Robyn Fairhurst, who was very timid and shy.

We had both just begun our time at High School and were roomies in the Girls' Hostel as my mother was in the military and away from home a lot and her parents lived in the north of the country.

We did crazy things together like sliding downstairs on our mattresses, flooding the bathroom with bubble bath, shampoo and anything soapy and inviting all the girls on our floor for a bubble fight.

Those are sweet, sweet memories.

Robyn and I are still great friends and adulthood has made us appreciate our bond so much more.

Obviously our lives have taken us in different directions and our ideals are two total opposite ends of the pole but now and then, we get together for lunch and just laugh about the good times we had.

We've remained friends despite, at times, being in two different countries and our eldest sons, Jean-Michael and Chad have automatically forged a bond which in a way is an extension of the very special friendship Robyn and I had.
