» liby_pereira - kate chopin --a mind of her own. The late 19th century can't have been very conducive to freedom for women . But that does'nt seem to have curbed the freedom of one particular lady. What is it that gave Kate Chopin the liberty to live as she pleased when women the world over believed that freedom did'nt even exist for them? So if women lived a life of slavery under patriarchy, was'nt it at least partially a choice they made , albeit unconsciously? Whatever the circumstances, if women choose consciously to exercise their freedom, I don't think anyone can stop them. It is probably their own feelings of insecurity and fear that makes them linger on in their cages of imprisonment rather than rush out and get bruised.-- posted by liby_pereira
