RE James Joyce' Daedulus and stars in Ulysses, refers to Hamlet

» Boug - What is Joyce writing about refering to astronomy and Hamlet by In Ulysses Joyce writes of Speaking of constellations, I just fininshed a section in Ulysses in which Cassiopoeia figures in Stephen Daedalus' criticism of Hamlet, especially, and William Shakespeare's life and works as a whole: fitting of course with the astrological bent of the Elizabethans, Will is accused of a grandiose sense of self (I'm horribly paraphrasing passages I barely understand) by finding special significance in what is apparently a supernova, observable by daylight, and positioned in or immediately adjacent to the W in the constellation.Well, here's my question for you: What is Daedalus talking about? I think I understand the thrust of his argument, but do you recall the section and did it make sense to you as a Bard buff? Everyone else in Daedalus' company in the -- posted by Boug
