» kaebea - Great Article You are addressing a very current issue in the world today. At a teachers' conference I attended recently this very issue came up. It was the opinion of the speaker that the dying of diversity in language means the dying of diversity in culture and in the world. Great work, Shaun. I look forward to more.-- posted by kaebea » dequizq - Multilingualism In agreement with the concept of improving Multilinguist activities, mostly for reasonings apart from the obvious and the ones you stated. We have taken such a leap backwards from embracing linguistics in their entirety, English included. The loss of Latin studies, that were once a requirement, in American education is a real shame. Latin supplied a base for six languages I can think of off the top of my head. From there Slavic, Oriental, and Middle Eastern dialectics wasn't such a "far reaching" ideal.Multiple intelligences is a new theory being presented where children can be educated without focusing on "one" area of talent. A recent article of mine, "Viral Impressions of A Gifted Mind" touches on the topic lightly. If you have an opportunity check it out. Hopefully this will reinvent the multilinguistic realm as well! -- posted by dequizq
