Prizes

One Grand Prize Winner will receive $100, and have their winning entry published in the deluxe Christmas In The Country hardcover book and the electronic book, a FREE copy of Christmas In The Country hot off the press, a FREE electronic copy of Christmas In The Country, and an unlimited number of additional copies can be purchased at 25% off the retail price.

50 (or more) First Prize Winners will have their winning entries published in the Christmas In The Country hardcover book and the Christmas In The Country electronic book, and can purchase an unlimited number of hardcover copies at 15% off the retail price.


Entry Fee

$10 per entry, you may enter as many times as you wish. Do not mail or email multiple entries together. Each entry must be submitted individually. In the event any check is returned for insufficient funds, that entry will be disqualified.


50% of all book royalties will be donated to Easter Seals.


Submission Deadline

All entries must be received by January 31, 2003. You may enter as many times as you wish. Submissions are currently accepted. We are not responsible for lost and misdirected mail. No late entries are accepted.

The Contest

All entries must contain a minimum of 300 and a maximum of 800 words. Entries shorter than 300 words or longer than 800 words will be disqualified. They must be original, created by the entrant, and previously unpublished. Entries can be articles, stories, essays, letters, journal entries, poems, and songs. All entries can be submitted by mail by including a check, cashiers check, or money order for $10 per entry made payable to Christmas In The Country and mailed to Christmas In The Country Contest, 3314 Landrum Drive, East New Market, Maryland 21631 U.S.A. Email submissions are permitted if paid via Pay Pal to Christmas In The Country. All entries must be emailed to contest@christmasinthecountry.net and copy and pasted in the message area of the email. All file attachments will be disqualified and emailed back to the entrant.

Entry in the contest grants Cambridge Books permission to publish the material in anthology form, and grants Cambridge Books the first right to use the entry in Christmas In The Country print edition and in any subsequent prints of that volume. Ebooksonthe.net is granted all electronic rights, including the publication of the Christmas In The Country electronic edition and publication on the Christmas In The Country website. Authors obtain the right to republish the work as a reprint in print form after it is released in Christmas In The Country print and electronic volumes; however, this republication must make attribution to the volumes in which the work first appeared. Submissions will be judged on writing ability and originality of thought. All winners will be notified by mail or email. The winners will also be posted on the Christmas In The Country website at http://www.christmasinthecountry.net

All submissions must include legal name, address, city, state or province, postal code, and phone number. They must be typewritten in English, double-spaced, and in Courier 12 point font or New Courier 12 point font. Please include a brief biography of (under 40 words) for inclusion with your entry, if it is selected for publication. Please enclose a self-addressed, stamped envelope if you wish to be mailed a list of winners. All winners will be announced by March 31, 2003.

Board members and employees of Cambridge Books and Ebooksonthe.net are disqualified from participating in the contest.
