looking for some advice

Hello, I'm new to this site. I apologize if I have misconstrued the intentions of this section, as I'm noticing the great resources here for lesbians, be it books, courses, and other interesting things...but in any event, I need some advice. I have searched the web high and low for a discussion involving my thoughts, but found nothing. So, I would like to get some opinions from other lesbians on this whole thing...
I'm 20, and have been 'out' for just under a year. I have been friends with this younger girl, 16, for a while. She identifies as bisexual. There is "something in the air" between us. I know she likes me very much, and I like her too. She's pretty great, actually...the conflicting thoughts are (obviously) a result of our ages. Would it be wrong of me to go ahead and get romantic with her? ...I just know we like each other and would like to know what to do about it. Any thoughts?
Once again, sorry if this isn't the right type of forum for this, but I appreciate anything you'd like to say.

I would strongly advise you against getting involved with a sixteen year old. Even though she may be very mature and a four year age difference doesn't seem like much, legally, you're an adult and she's a child. That creates an automatic power imbalance which is unfair to her.

The age of consent varies from place to place, but in many locations, an adult having sex with a sixteen year old is considered statutory rape.

Hard as it may be, I'd advise you to put a hold on the romantic moves until she's legal. If it's true love, she's certainly worth waiting for.

Thanks for responding. Statutory rape is certainly not the title I'd like this relationship to have! I'd want it to simply be fun and good times...we will have to see how things are in a couple years. I appreciate your advice, and love the site. Thanks again.

It sounds like you've made a good decision to wait until she's eighteen before considering a romantic involvement. And of course, in the meantime, you can still be her friend, which is also very important. Some of the most passionate romances I've seen have sprung from long, solid friendships.
