Fascinating article. This is such a tragic story. I was wondering, in the movie version, his death by asphyxiation was brought on because he wanted to lay down flat. According to the movie, he knew that his deformity would cause asphyxiation if he were to lay flat on his back. In effect, he committed suicide. Do you know if this version is true?
