» csa510 - Lace Restoration and Preservation Hi everyone,I'm new to this site, but I'm hoping I've come to the right place for some help. I have inherited my grandmother's wedding dress. It is 60-65 years old. She made it by hand and it is all lace. There is a slip dress that was worn under it. The dress is still intact, but needs to be restored (it is no longer white) and then I'll need to preserve it somehow. Does anyone have any ideas they could share with me? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. -- posted by csa510 » micag - HELP!!!!!!!!!! Hi I am also new to this site and hoping someone could help me. I am desperate!!!!! I have my mother's original wedding dress, it is over 30 years old. I will be getting married and I want to use the beautiful lace overlay for my dress that I will be having made. The problem is: it is not white any longer. It has no tears in it but, the satin under the lace is unsaveable. If anyone knows how to restore the lace please, please let me know a.s.a.p thank you-- posted by micag » marieb84 - Old lace samples I lost my dear brother six months ago. This weekend I went to visit his widow, who had been going through 'stuff.' Among other things, she gave me a really old notebook that is filled with what appears to be samples of lace. The only person in our family who I think would have had this was my paternal grandmother. She came to the U.S. from Denmark in the 1880s, and died in the 1950s. So now I have four to five dozen little samples of laces, all of which must be more than sixty years old. She may have even brought some over from Denmark. They are so precious, I must find a way to preserve and display them. I'm thinking of a grouping of picture frames with dark fabric background. Then arranging the pieces to create a larger collage. Can anyone help me?-- posted by marieb84
