» spinlily - Welcome back, Twink!

Llamas are so cute ;) Good luck with yours, and send me all the fleece, please. (kidding...)

Speaking of fiber animals, my husband and I took a day trip last week. We were driving past a charming valley on the Olympic Peninsula of Washington, and what did I see profiled against the sky but a buffalo!

What a surprise -- this isn't normally buffalo country! But I wonder what their hair is like....

» Twink - Buffalo

Believe it or not, here in Northern Michigan, we have a huge herd of Buffalo. I have had the opportunity to see them up close, talk about living the past, I felt just like the cowboy and indian movies we see. They must have appx. 200 Buffalo on this huge farm. It was so cool.
I have spun some buffalo and it reminded me a little of llama, not as soft but an undercoat and guard hairs. You should be able to find some somewhere.
I would love to find some yak!!!!! Anyone got any leads?
Good luck.

» spinlily - Change in email lists

Hi folks!

I've removed the SpinList from my list of links because they aren't taking new members anymore.

I'll have links to some new spinning lists soon.

» bindweed - Navaho-Churro fleece

Would anyone be interested in some Navaho fleeces?
I have some forty bags full of fleeces that I have gathered over the years. Not carded or cleaned -- but in nice condition. All colors from buff to brown and even some blond.

How would I charge for them -- or take in trade?

» spinlily - Hi, Herbert!

You could probably find a market for this year's fleeces, but you might have to give away the old ones.

Spin-Off Magazine recently ran a contest for home-spun, -knit, or -woven items made from endangered sheep species, so you might want to have a look at their upcoming issue to get some ideas.

I think people usually make rugs and other heavy-duty items from Navaho-Churro fleeces, but we might have a reader who knows more about it.

» spindlitis - Yak!

Someone asked about Yak. Woodland Woolworks carries it (800-547-3725) I think it's also available from Look China, which has a web site.

In response to churro wool posted by kaelynn:

I am always interested in varietal wools. I am in FLagstaff, AZ. I like greys and whites for the dye-ability, but darks are nice for variety
