I read your article about mans best friend, and I understood your concern. Yet I had thiught all my life that a dog is man's best friend. If they aren't our friends then who can come close enough as to being our friend without betraying your secreta to someone else?

I absolutely agree that dog can be mans best friend, I'm simply saying that any animal needs to be treated with respect and caution, especially in regards to children. I loved growing up with my dog all my life, and wouldn't have had it any other way. Regardless there is still a small amount of risk involved with dealing with any animal.
Thanks for your comments,
Jacquie.

It is correct that children must be taught proper behavior with pets, as pets will defend themselves just as humans will. As far as killer dogs go, in the research that I have done, it's the owners that have always turned out to be less than reputable, and I feel that appropriate punishment for them would reduce this problem enormously.

I Couldn't agree more! Very rarely do we hear of animals attacking for absolutely no reason, especially animals like dogs. It seems that quite often there is some reason behind dogs attacking, usual human error. I absolutely love dogs, but people need to be aware of the responsibility that comes along with owning an animal.
