I couldn’t resist dropping by to have a look at your most recent article, and I am glad I did. Reading it, I couldn’t help thinking about you there in the bar. It reminded me a little of the film, Gimme Shelter, about the Rolling Stones tour, and the episode where they kept playing despite the chaos that was erupting all around them. It must have been quite ...uh ...exhilarating for you.

I tried Karaoke once, and got through Elton John’s Rocket Man without too much embarrassment. Last year I was all primed for an open mic night at a local pub, but plans fell through at the last moment. Otherwise I was going to sing what for me was a poignantly timely rendition of Neil Young’s Old Man. Never got to do it. It would have been fun, though.
