» Momto5 - Am I a Janeite?

I first became aware of Jane Austen when reading a magazine article about one of her books being made into a film. Then I saw "Sense and Sensibility", which I love. I saw "Pride and Prejudice" on A&E. Shortly after, "Emma" was made into a film as well. I then went to a bookstore and purchased paperbacks of all her novels, fully intending to read every one. However, I found the language difficult, and the versions with footnotes just broke up the flow of the story. Is there any hope for me?

In response to message posted by Momto5:

Hello,

It sounds as though you are a Janeite! Please try to read the books again though. Once you get used to the language it should be easier.
Jennifer Ehle, who played Elizabeth, said that she found it harder than Shakespeare!

Best!
