» Tina_Coruth - Very interesting article! Hi Lianne,This is a very interesting article, very well told. Celtic Christianity took root in Ireland as nowhere else, indeed. I enjoyed reading this -- thanks! Tina -- posted by Tina_Coruth » MercyWriter - Re: Very interesting article! In response to message posted by Tina_Coruth:Thanks, Tina. I'll tell ya, those Celts were (and still are) passionate people. Whatever they take on. =) This world would be a duller place without the Irish. -- posted by MercyWriter » lwindsor - Re: Re: Very interesting article! In response to message posted by MercyWriter:Lianna, et al: My research revealed a much greater Divine plan for Ireland than is revealed in past references--the result of 20th century technology, translations, and new archeological studies. Book one, MAIRE, tells how the Hebrews migrated to Ireland after the Flood. Graves are there. When the Milesian Celts came from the Iberian Peninsula, they married the Hebrew daughters because of a shortage of women--yet another reason for us dark-haired, blue-eyed Irish. Archeology shows the Irish and Hebrew cultures were very similar. Some think treasures from Solomon's temple were hidden in the hill of Tara by Jewish refugees and that the king's stone was actually David's throne. The harp of Tara is identical to sketches of David's harp. Lot's of food for thought. I also found a legend and/or record which is backed by Scripture where the ancestors of the Milesian Celts (Royal Irish Line) helped the Hebrews escape Egypt in the Exodus and when Pharoah sent troops to destroy them, God sent a rare East wind and blessed their ships and those of their children and children's children. They were carried to the Iberian peninsula where they became the Phonecians and later the Milesians, all known for their great seafaring abilities. Then there was Brenda the Navigator who, according to translations of his journals, landed in America in the Virgina area and traveled inland to the Ohio country, where an angel appeared and told him to go back. It wasn't time for America to be discovered. It didn't need to be. Ireland WAS the America of the Dark Ages, a refuge for Christians, HEbrews, and scholars--any of those persecuted in mainland Europe. It was this melting pot that made it great. It was inability to unite against a common foe that lead to its downfall in later centuries. If this intrigues anyone, you can find all these tidbits of info as well as a bibliography for more reading in the back of MAIRE, and the other Gleannmara books. Like I said, two levels. The story and the non-fiction setting and glossary/reference in the back. Needless to say, I was intrigued to see how the roots of my faith became entwined with that of the druidic culture of fifth century Ireland and how the priests and druids worked respectfully together to take the best of both worlds and mold them into a new Ireland, America of the Dark Ages and Light of the World in a black time.
