In response to message posted by Kirk:

I guess in your world this is an explantion of making up stories about me.

What in there is new for you? Everyone knows he had a great 1/2000 call, a very bad QQQ recommendation, and stopped talking about it..(that was a bad idea in your view, huh?) It's old news for most of us. This "casual" Brinker fan knew all that months ago..whoop dee doo!

» walkerman - I'm still waiting

Well Kirkster, I'm still waiting for your analysis of how HWP has done, since you are "holding" it. Also, I'm still waiting for your proof that Brinker used TEFQX in early 2000 to enhance the performance of P1. I think yoou're in trouble here, because if there was proof, DK would have provided it already, being the brinkerbashing lapdog that he is. His silence obviously supports my side of the debate, because we know he only provides brinkerbasher supporting summaries. You guys are becoming sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo transparent. But, you do give me a morning laugh.

» Will_L - I wonder if another advisor had told people to reduce their fund

I wonder if another advisor had told people to reduce their fund holdings to 35% and then

Bragged on TEFQX causing many to buy it--down 90%

Told them to hold MSFT and VOD--down 55 and 75%

Bragged on Lucent causing many to buy--down 98%

Sent a special bulletin to use up to half one's remaining cash to buy QQQs--down 75% after 19 months

The portfolio for someone following all of Brinker's advice is down between 30 to 50%.

Would the apologists for Brinker claim that is a great performance in a bear market?

Wouldn't a timer expect to stay even or make money if they "chose to avoid a bear market" as I recall the great Roberte saying a few thousand times?

Those that can't do, simply spin conflicting calls and sell worthless advice, hoping that apologists will sort out and brag on that which turns out lucky.

Right now Brinker is about 2/3rds long the market and heavy in tech if you count all of his advice and Port I. Is that "bearish?"

Would it not be the same if he has a 2/3 short position when he issues the "cyclical bull call and 'holds' it throughout"?? It matters not what you call the market, it is what you do in the market that counts. It is the sum total of all your moves that one evaluates in the real world. smile

In response to message posted by Kirk:

Kirk, I could do without the green. smile I don't think anyone could be green with envy on that record you post in BRINKER's OWN WORDS.

That captures the HUBRIS that The Street.com's Aaron Task called Brinker's advice. You see that October hype of a "Counter Trend Rally" was the biggest bet he ever told people to make on a single equity position. It was given with a "SPECIAL BULLETIN" and ACT IMMEDIATELY advice.

He was as sure of that call as he has been any other. He gave NO description of any risk whatsoever. He recommended even CONSERVATIVE INVESTORS put up to 20% of their entire equity portfolio into those QQQs in the low 80s. He gave NO EXIT STRATEGY whatsoever an in fact encouaged many to buy more by his optimism of being right as the QQQs fell. Mark J on this site said he was sure Brinker meant for people to keep adding to that QQQ position as they fell to keep the percentages the same. Wonder how many Mark has now that they are down to 24 bucks? LOL

As your post shows, he extended, he weaseled and he spun. He started over and he extended and he weaseled and he spun. He finally in May of 01 moved the issue to a hold. Then beginning about the first of this year began hyping his next "counter trend event".

"January 02: Brinker said "we prefer to hold existing positions in the expectation that the next cyclical bull..."

Notice the implication is --"Be sure to re-subscribe so you know when I call the next counter trend event that this time I'm calling the "cyclical bull" so you will know when you will be able to get a little money back on the QQQs you are holding from my last counter trend event a couple years ago".

The man may not be much of a timer but he does have balls when it comes to marketing. LOL

» Jonathon - walkrman needs our help

walkerman it really upsets you that brinker gave terrible advice since january 2000 doesn't it? it really burns you up that will has proven that brinker posted under don lane and that it shows brinker's true character. i can understand why you lash out at people when your guru is attacked. it is a common psychological reaction. you are transferring the anger you have toward yourself at other posters. when brinker (your guru) gets criticized, you feel like its you that is being criticized. that explains why you pretend to hate will and hate kirk. you need help.

Jonathan, do you plan to get back in the market when Brinker advises to do so, or are you already in as much as you want to be.

lalalal, there is an erroneous assumption that is built into your question that needs correcting. following brinker i have most of my money already in the market overweighted in high p/e large cap stocks. brinker conveniently omits this tiny issue on the radio show.

» Jonathon - message to bob brinker

since we know bob brinker reads this message board very closely, i have a message and question for him. i didn't create the message, but i copied off of the utek thread. bob brinker, here is the question. perhaps you could address it next week:

I see the new lows on the QQQ's. It's hard to accept the fact that it's been so long since Bob's buy call but I focus on other things right now that generate income such as my business.

I find it amazing that Bob Brinker had to totally change the formatting of his show, because of his blown calls. But thinking about it, it was more than just the blown calls, it was the way he lead listeners into thiking he was on their side.

Remember when he used to reference other analyst and mock them? I wonder what he would say if someone called and described his actions back at him?

Bob my broker said to buy QQQ's at $85, then went silent. I couldn't get a hold of him. He wouldn't take my phone calls. He no longer says anything about the QQQ's. What should I do?

Ok, so you're in the market MORE than you want to be, I guess.

Are you going to put in any more, in the S&P or Total Market this time, when he says to do so?
