Free Saturday Summary:

Tobacco, blah, blah, estate tax, blah, blah, bob, blah, estate tax, blah, blah, bob, blah, estate tax, blah, blah, bob, blah, estate tax, blah, blah, bob, blah, MT commercial, blah, bob, blah, estate tax, blah, blah, bob, blah.....

One call on QQQ late in the program which yielded nothing. No support for those who sold last week hoping they would look smart when Bob announced his sell signal this weekend. No support for the faithful who continue to hold. No worries for those who aren't involved.

» Kirk - QQQ Stop Loss at $84

Wouldn't it be a shocker if the cubes gapped down 10 on Monday at the open with all the brinkerBots selliung, not wanting to take a chance after the warning of an "unlimited downside" and all were taken out at $78 and then they recovered to new highs in the next few weeks?

» JenL_2 - daku - Welcome to Suite 101!

I recommend that you request a free copy of MT before you pay the $185. While you're at it you might as well request a free copy of Kirk's online newsletter - just click on the link in Kirk's signature. Read them both and then decide for yourself which, if either, is worth it to you. You might also be interested in David K's MoneyTalk interpretations - for a free copy email david @

» Kirk - How to Exectute the QQQ sale

I am not in this trade, I have purchased individual stocks for more "juice" and am still up 15% on my buy of LRCX at $24.4 on that day in May... but here is a good post on the QQQ stop.

... you are correct in saying many times a stop limit order will go off as planned and all is well. Unfortunately, you are not guaranteed an execution at all with a stop limit order. If the other side is not there you are left hanging.

Bob's advice to use stop market sell orders would guarantee you are out of your QQQ shares at the next best available bid if the shares trade at the 84 price. So any trade at 84 would give you a market order to sellout at the next available bid. If it is 84 fine. If it is 83 3/4 fine. Point is the preservation of your capital in the event 84 price occurs. Stop market sell order is the only way to guarantee you are out of QQQ if it hits 84 anytime during any day. That is why he advised not to use stop limit orders on the trade. If QQQ does not hit 84 the trade remains open for higher prices.

URL if you must give them a hit...

Again, Bob says his MAJOR goal is capital preservation and a big profit is secondary, hence the stop that may take you out of a successful trade if you had bought at $75 and had your stop now raised to $80.

BTW, I don't have a stop on my shares of LRCX as I was very happy with the price on fundamentals. Bob is trading QQQ that he thinks is grossly overvalued. I'd prefer to ONLY buy things I don't mind holding long term incase my "trade" goes wrong. That way, if left holding the proverbial bag, the bag is not an empty one!

» JenL_2 - QQQ stop loss limit at 84?

More on BB's recommended stop loss @ 84 on the QQQ from the "BB Discussion" thread:

Subject: QQQ stop loss limit at 84?

Of course, with a stop loss at 84, and then if the QQQ gaps open down Monday morning at 80, there will be no profit at all for those who bought at 80.

Not likely that a gap down open in such a widely traded vehicle will happen like that. But Bob said a "market sell order", at the target 84. That's a stop loss limit order at 84, I believe.

Are the "sophisitcated" traders in this QQQ play knowledgeable enough to know how to place such an order, and what it does exactly? Or are they going to immediately place sell limit orders at 84, and get nailed at an 86 bottom on a sharp market downturn Monday morning?

The trade bob said to buy around 74 (which no one could have bought under 80) now is at around 87 down from 100+. He says sell if it goes down to 84. If it does not go to 84 hold and tune in next week. I can sure see why all the faithful have such a high level of confidence in the model.

Maybe Bob's problem is not the model but how he communicates? No that couldn't be itsmile

This whole thing would be funny if so many people haven't already been and yet will be hurt. How many times did people talk about buying in the low 90s since "Bob said it was going over 100." Now, what happens if it goes to 83 63/64, then takes off again for 100? Listen carefully everyone -- IT'S IMPOSSIBLE TO PREDICT THE FUTURE. Just set an allocation that makes sense for you and, if you're still in capital accumulation mode, just keep DCAing. Who cares if it's a bear or a bull market? This obsession with short-term trading and market timing schemes is the sort of thing you'ld expect to hear one of those get-rich rip-off seminars.

Subject: Bob says Stop Market Order, which cannot be done on AMEX

Oh good lord, Bob says to put a Market Order in if QQQ "reaches" 84. So, not a Stop Limit Order, absolutely not, which does not guarantee execution, because it shows to the specialist, who then can manipulate the trade to his benefit, so that your order may not go through. HUH?????????

So a Stop Market Order is what is needed, but one cannot place such an order on the AMEX. Where the QQQ trades.

So as the QQQ is crashing through 84 on it's way to 50, the trader is supposed to get through in real time to his broker, to place a real time Market Order, and hope to get first in line, before every other trader trying to do the exact same thing. Yikes.

Boy am I sure glad that this trade is for sophisticated, experienced traders only.

» Kirk - How to trade wtih Stops...

I put up a summary of how to trade QQQ, or any other stock, and lock in gains and protect against losses.

I would be "embarrassed" to have a web site of "experts" debating a QQQ trade where this was never discussed and specifics laid out. But that is just what happened on the Brinker site. Of course, in the spirit of competition, I wasn't going to publish this----> until ….now! 8)

I've also never seen a more perfect example of why trading is not for casual radio listeners and why most novices lose money. Even traders that go to trading school and say they are successful now report that they might take $50,000 to $100,000 to learn the techniques to be successful and they then have to work full time at it.

To think you can get rich quick trading by listening to a weekend radio show where when to get in and out levels will be given on the air…. More snake oil than I've seen ANYWHERE!
