David's Summaries

I am not sure what happened at bobbrinker.bom

David emailed me a free summary but asked that I not post it until he works some things out. Email me (click on letter at the top) and I will forward you a copy that has instructions on how to subscribe if you are interested.

At Bobbrinker.com, they had a special thread for posting and discussing his summaries. This is now gone. I suspect they wanted David to do the work and not ask for payment. I offered David "Editor Helper Status" if he writes them weekly and posts only here where our work is copyrighted. The pay is tiny, but he would be rewarded in the small way we have available. He couldn't charge for this or post it on other sites without a link back to here so I offered to let him post his summaries any time he wants and he can post his email address in the summary with a note "email me to learn how to get these on a regular basis" where he could sell his service via email (we aren't supposed to be selling stuff here).

Some posters on the BB.com site suggested that ABC lawyers were going to put a stop to his charging for summaries to ABC property. Funny thing, I get the Sporting Page every day and there is sure a play by play summary of Monday Night Football every Tuesday after ABC broadcasts a game. I don't see how what David was doing is any different than what Sports writers do, but I don't play an attorney in real life. Still, as long as he isn't selling direct transcripts, I believe his service is legal and they were just being bullies for not thinking of his idea first! Also, ABC might get a bit upset for pirated advertising of bb.com website on Moneytalk if the Brinker's started to charge for stuff. I think ABC looks the other way as long as it is "JR's Hobby" rather than where they hope to make money if and when Brinker retires from radio.

Anyway, more censorship at the other site as the thread there saying how wonderful the Free Summaries were is now gone. I'll still try to get them here and we still have SteveT who does a wonderful summary when the weather isn't so nice (winter times).

» RhyneN - Re legal controversy on summaries

I would be pleased if someone just give his impression of Bob's opening monolouges and any key advice to a caller. A 100 word summary and the recorders comments would be great and surely would be free speech per 1st amendment, I hope.

» RandeS - No controversy, except that the author has decided the summaries

No controversy, except that the author has decided the summaries will be pay per view. So, it comes down to getting it first-hand for free or second hand for fee. Gee, that's a tough one, especially since 99% is nothing new but for the live entertainment value. Sorry. Just an opinion.

» KirkL - Weekend Summary

Keep checking back for summaries

We had people give their summaries of the show before David started "pay per view" so I hope this resumes again.

I'll summarize the show as I remember the parts I have heard.

100% invested

DCA any new money into 75% USA and 25% Foreign

GNMA is a BUY, no DCA but lump sum

AOL is a sell

He told us all to "load up on" semiconductor capital equipment stocks back in the fall when they were cheap, but now is not the time to buy.

E.C. (Editor Comment) I guess he is either saying they are over valued now or we are at a market top. Belivers in market timing take note as some say the cycle will continue for 3 MORE yrs and thus the prices have only seen perhaps half their potential appreciation. I feel BB has called a top with his pronouncement or at least went to a hold for the sector such as with MSFT 3 yrs ago.

Stay intermediate to short term in bonds

Some talk as to why you might want to watch for a bear market sell signal though his most respected people in his reading list and the books he recommended reading several times during the show say market timing doesn't work.

MSFT and UTEK are holds no matter what price they drop to in a correction. "A hold is a hold is a hold".

Somebody posted a really funny version of his show summaries once that I wish I had saved. I like the advice to the callers and his reasons he likes or dislikes certain stocks. Some of the off-the-cuff stuff is worth listening to the show for

Oh yeah, the best part was Sunday when Gene, SteveT and BushForPrez(Paul from NY) called in to the show and got on while we were in chat. Paul even said "Hi from the Suite101.com chatters" or something cool like that. Gene told us the funny wardrobe he was wearing while he was on the phone!
A great time was had by all!

» mathguy - Re: previous summary

Kirk ...in your summary above: "Somebody posted a really funny version of his show summaries once that I wish I had saved." Perhaps you were thinking of the post referenced in your post #298 on this thread? It stuck in my mind too, and got reminded again after reading hawkeye's post #36845 and 36848 in the main thread at the "other" site. I would insert the clickable url's here, but don't know how! Is there any place on this board that teaches you how to do that?
