On 2/29 BB mentioned something about "massive distribution" (I think that's what the term was) from last Aug to Oct. I'm not sure what he meant, but it was a danger signal.I wasn't able to hear the whole call. Can anyone clarify? Thanks.

» TONYBRIG - Randes Random Walk Theory

It sounds logical but then I havent seen any
proof. Nor have I ever heard anyone else mention it.
On CNBC a mention of a specific is always "blamed"
for the markets rise/fall. Even if it is just buy
or sell orders kicking in at a certain level.
If you can prove your theory I will nominate it
as a possible dance.
"THE RANDOM RANDE WALK"
Keep up your great defense of BB.
Best of Luck!

Far better men than I have demonstrated the validity of the efficient market hypothesis. Try "Random Walk Down Wall Street," by Malkiel and then check out "Capital Ideas," by Berstein to get the background on the men and ideas that led even some of the most die-hard Wall Street brokers of all time admit that what they do is, "1,500% bullshit." (quote from "Capital Ideas")

» TONYBRIG - "Day Traders Look for Work"

BB has said more then once that:
Something like this:
Virtually every DAY TRADER will be going back
to their jobs. He mentioned Barons 3/1 article.
The story goes that the school charges $5,000 for
a 4 week course or somesuchthing like that.
That 2/3 disappear. Perhaps this isnt the rite
school. The proprietor makes 5m off each
(SUCKER) no matter what. What does he care if
losers walk.
Either the wrong school or the wrong people,
or both. (I say)
If 1/3 make it then that shows it can be done.
I hope that BB gets his act together in this area.
CNBC has a week long program on DAY TRADERS.
Not all is bad no matter the slant the BEARS in
this area put on it.
BB will have to EAT HIS WORDS in this area sooner
or later when he sees that people dont need to
go back to their day jobs.

Rande.......... Your rebuttal please!

You got me, Chain. My personal belief is that the overwhelming majority of would-be "Livermores" have and will continue to experience first-hand the meaning of the old saw about a "fool and his money."

» TONYBRIG - 1/3 Traded others they Faded

Yes Bob/Rande/All/

I read the article in Barons; funny I got a different version then you reported on Sundays
or was it Saturdays show.
Here's what I got:
That1/3 made it (in only that guys school)
We dont know the stats at the other school.
It is hard work and the ones that succeeded worked
at it. The service station guy studied for 2 yrs.
He lost at first but persevered and won and is
continuing to win.
That cooperation helps being on the scene in the
"Salon" with a "Margin Dept" and ex Wall Streeters"
CNBC is doing for the rest of this week from 8am-
10am a whole program devoted to this so more info
is available from this Media.
Just as the Internet is here for keeps then so is
the Day Traders here for keeps. I would love to
book Bobs bets on this if he says otherwise.
In this world if a few can do it then others find
a way also to do it.
BB will start changing his tune on Day Traders
just as he has on the (Nut) stocks.
Thats easy! Even in a correction!
Bestofluck (We will need it)

» DanG_6 - The Daytrading "Profession"

Tony, love your style. Actually I'm certain that there will always be folks who can succeed in very difficult professions. In fairness to BB, I think what he is saying is that 99 out of 100 people (or maybe even more!) can succeed by investing in something as simple as an index fund for the long term. But maybe only 1 in a hundred can succeed at daytrading, which requires far more skill, attention, time, guts, you name it. Sort of like trying to make it in the NBA. For every 1000 that try it, maybe 1 or 2 succeed. Of course the rewards for the successful can be great but you have to decide if you really want to buck those odds. Kind of like going for that 100 to 1 long shot at the track. At least that's how I see it.

» TONYBRIG - Not easy trading or investing

Its not easy just being an investor
specially on days like this.
But still there is a technology to it and it
can be learned and exercised by cool heads.
Lets put it this way If one can win on paper
and transfer it to the real world then it can
be done.
What happens when someone has to win?
Thanks Dan and Thruhiker
Rande you lost.
How come John Bernstein doesnt post here.
I'm going to suggest that all new members pay a
