» TONYBRIG - Sat show

Well here's my version.
I only listen to what I want to hear while I
do other things. Also It wasnt on the whole time.
The bond and mutual funds jazz I just delete
sorta go to sleep or do other things while this is
on.
I liked the part about the PENNY STOCK where
BB said to bring it down to zero. Cause thats
where he feels it will go. He definetely is not
an advocate of this vehicle.
He said it would be better to bet it on the BEST
BET of the day at the Race-Track. Chalkie!
Shows he knows little/nothing about betting horses
as this tip is all over the place and so underlayed that an astute bettor looks to beat
the favorite and get value for his $.
He talked about the Nut stocks and didnt blast them as he has in the past. Mentioned that there
were 15m new onlike accts a day (A PLUG) Visions of EGRP stock rising danced in my head.
Not too kind about the day-traders tho and he
sited an example on the guy who quit his day job and lost many thousands of $$.
B.B. needs to get off of this one-sidedness.
Would like to hear about the guy who did well
DAY TRADING.
Funny how I never hear any more sponsor-ship from
AMAZON.COM on his show. The way he picked on this
Co. every week was PATHETIC. Knock your sponsors
is the theme here I guess.
I e mailed this Co. and told them that I thought
his show was unfair to them (they quit advertising) after that probably just a coincidence.
Funny tho that EGRP still has a spot on his show
and he never mentioned them once as far as I can
determine.
He still feels that we are going lower and said
a Bear Market is in the future. But he gave no
time frame on this.
It was (from what I heard) a good show for the
listeners.
Gave it an 8.
Best of Luck!
Tony

» KirkL - Thanks guys!

Steve and Tony, In a word: BRAVO!
Thanks and keep up the good work!

I particularly liked the "Don't quit your day job" segment where BB warned of the folly of becoming a day trader as many are doing. The local news even had a segment on this phenomenon and showed a company if SF that had high speed access and charged the fools $20 a trade to use their system. The traders looked like they were working all day too. Reminded me of an "Opium Den" where one goes to satisfy an addiction.

With the stock market breaking records almost daily, a study of the concept of risk seems quite timely. Peter Bernstein has written a comprehensive history of man's efforts to understand risk and probability.

Have your " ordered Kirk's Book of the Week?

Sunday, February 21, 1999 BB mentioned one of his favorite books, especially the first 3 chapters of the book below. BB also mentioned "our Tony" by NAME as an internut!

BB strongly suggests all read the first 3 chapters of this book, especially if you like internet stocks!

» TONYBRIG - TonyfromBklyn/critique

Good Evening:

TonyfromBklyn here with a critique of the Sunday
BB show aired on 77 wabc.
I missed the first 25 minutes as I was at Aqueduct
Race Track betting against the Best Bet of the day
in the 8th race. Yes he lost at 2/5 yes I beat him
with a 9/2 shot exacta pd about $25 not bad for a $2
bet. Talk about value.
The show didnt impress me to much in the beginning
until BB started talking about the Nut stocks and
BLASTED Amazon &Broadcast (I believe)
Poor Amazon he always picks on them and mentions
how far off the Jan high they are.
He didnt mention how high they are from their low.
Also didnt correlate the (melt-down) with the correction
going on. Volatile sector is expected to be just that
both on the up and down-side.
Strange that Amazon doesnt Advertise on his show anymore
(to my knowledge)
I wouldnt if the Showman blasted me all the time!
Havent heard an AD on his show for a few weeks for
Amazon.com. Perhaps my E mail to them stating I felt he
was picking on them too harshly contributed to that.
He took a call from a guy about Dell and laced in to
this Co.cause of valuation. Said that numbers would have
to be proven to investors now. After the break he hedged off a bit and praised Dell a little.
Then a guy called trying to get an approval on AOL
from BB but to no avail. He threw his usaual valuation
at the guy. Couldnt spare it heh.
Then a lady called and said how hard she had worked
trying to find a value stock and selected a CHIP one
(The name eludes me)Bob asked her a bunch of questions
and she had good answers apparently since he didnt knock
her. So the answer came that investors are not now
looking for value stocks. I got the feeling that he
could have encouraged her some and mentioned dollar-cost
averaging and the fact that the sector had corrected
and to hang in there. But he didnt and I can see her
crying now. He couldnt give her a win! Pathetic!!
A guy called and gave BB a good laugh bout Day
Trading on (of all things!) COINS. He was calling with
the good news and related how a friend of his had
doubled his 2500 in a month. BB proceeded to blow holes
in this guys case and asked questions about how many
hrs and days (no min or sec's tho) he was spending.
The guy offered that a course had been taken on this
and the guy (heavens) quit his day job.
Bob relayed his regards to tell the guy that he would
be back on his old job when this collapsed.
What a CHAOS MERCHANT in this instance.
Whats he smoking??
That was one of his digs on todays program.
I got the feeling that BB had perhaps been smoking or
drinking something today as he seemed so loose and
GIDDY.
Then he picked on (of all people) YOURS TRULY
Said that I said something like You can pay anything
you want to for them (nut stocks) price doesnt matter.
Now come on!!
I didnt say that (lets go to the transcript)
Did say that he was blasting them and that he wasnt
using the proper valuation yard-stick. That how could
he compare a (nut stock) with a regular stock.
That how could he keep mentioning P/E's when he knows
or knew the (gamblers) as he calle em werent trading
these stocks for that ratio. Future probabilities
is why!
BB has an uncanny ability of stacking the deck in his
favor and slanting the facts to his DOGMA.
BB is a SHOWMAN to the highest level.
BB is a blow-hard to the highest level.
BB's show is for a large part for BB not for his audience only.
He talked about the ongoing corrction and felt it would
be going on more and that the nasdaq would suffer the
most.
Oh there were good things but they have eluded me cause
thats what his show should be good for the audience.
I gave him a rating of 6. Trying to put my self in
the audiece's viewpoint.
His showmanship and Blowharding was a big 10 in his favor.
I trust you have enjoyed this and invite BB and all the BB board members to read and to comment on it.
Thanks for listening!
Best of Luck!

I really enjoyed your summary. I think having more than one summary is a great idea. We diversify our investments why not summaries? I admire the passion in your work. Lets hope others will be inspired to give it a try, it can only benefit this thread. Keep up the good work.
