Don,

Now, now. I appreciate the support, but Paul has always been the first to admit that some ways seem strange to him and he's easily confused. smile

It's true that from time to time a nasty mean-spirited type will surface from under the rocks to pull the old "you post 24/7" or "what does your boss have to say" routine. That's just the nature of the Internet where the illusion of anonymity brings out the worst and some people do and say things they might not otherwise do or say under different circumstances. We live in a free society and sometimes those freedoms are abused. Take Suite101, for example. Anyone can start their own thread here, and sometimes the privilege is abused. It's ironic that the "Ask Rande" thread was started, for example, by someone else who later had to leave for abusing such privileges.

As for my own time on this thread, I've always viewed it as "pro bono" work, a way to give back. My firm encourages community work in general and pro bono work in particular, even subsidizes it. I've been further obligated as a "thought leader" to be available to the media at large, though certainly there is a quid pro quo expected there. But my time here has always been on my own nickel, separate and apart from my obligations at work. Fortunately, I've got the financial freedom to remain flexible in my choices, but I do enjoy both my work and the time I spend here. Putting in the hours I do, and being the organized sort I am, allows me plenty of time to juggle any number of balls. Haven't reached the point where there's too many balls in the air, and still really enjoy the community here at Suite101 (despite the occasional weirdness). So, in short, it's a non-issue. But, again, thanks for the support.

» Karin_ - Rande

We all appreciate your posts here very much.
I bet there are a lot of readers on your thread here, that have never posted.

It is not easy, to find a person like you, who
will give this valuable professional advise free.

My accountant just charged me $75 for a simple
"I-Bond" question on the phone, just to confirm
my inquiry.

Thank you Rande. Don't ever quit.

Thanks Karin. My standard rate these days is $500/hour plus admin and expenses (obscene, isn't it?). The Suite101 rate is "my pleasure." smile

» Slick - Definiton of a Bull Market ?

Hi Rande :

We all know what a bear market is ( 20% decline ), but if we have a 20% rise above the lows of a bear and over a period of time ...are we now in a bull again ?
