» Kirk - I have been impressed

...by Rober Drach on NBR when he has been a guest market monitor. I explored the NBR site because they said he has a portfolio there and I found that he actually has a model portfolio that goes back to 5/5/95 with some rather impressive statistics.

http://www.nbr.com/drach/drach.html

As of Feb 22, 2001

Current Stock vs. Cash Allocation:
$ 1,420,547.96 (94%) stock. $98,723.63 (6%) cash equivalents.

Portfolio initiated 5/5/95, archived daily, initial level 520.12
Current relative model portfolio value 1,519.27
Gain + 192.10% Annualized Gain 33.12%

I found he bought HWP last summer at $107 and shortly (less than 30 days) sold HWP at $120 (pre split) and bought it back on 11/10/00 at $39.125 and it is his ONLY technology holding. David Dreman has HWP and Lucent so they are not that far off....

I too have high hopes for HWP not at all influnced by my large number of company stock shares from 20 years working there!

A quick look at his current holdings and he seems to have more with losses then gains.

Still, his performance has been impressive. Too bad he doesn't have returns listed for each year. Perhaps we can email him and suggest it? (and let him know about this thread)

» SteveT - I usualy watch or tape NBR.

I usually watch or tape NBR. I have seen Robert several times. I must admit his record is very good. The thing that impresses me about his NBR appearances is the rational he uses in his selections is very clear and sensible.

» Slick - Robert Drach

I'm faithful watcher of NBR and Drach seems to be a favorite of Kangas, quite possible because ( I believe) he is based in South Florida. All that aside, he does seems to be on top of this market, and I do pay more attention to his view, these days.

Shifting gears, I quite by chance caught "The Mclaughlin Group" this AM, and low and behold who did I see as a guest...Larry Kudlow. He's getting around. If memory serves, he was representing " The Nation Online".Always enjoy his views, and this case was no exception.It was well worth viewing as they replay it all weekend at various times.
