I just checked up on the blowhard and he is -51% on his million dollar scheme. At least the investors are only -20%...He says not to judge by the past but by the opportunities of the future....C'mon stop the nonsense.

Thanks. He now needs a 4x gain to double his money and a 100% gain to make it back to his staring place.

Do you have an exact number and date for the table?

08/03/03 $500,000
08/15/03 $480,840
09/12/03 $432,098
09/30/03 $468,000 ???
10/28/03 $375,000 down 25% & still short
10/31/03 $343,000
11/19/03 $435,400 down 12.92%

11/15/03 $349,131 down 30.2%
01/02/04 $300,000 down 40%; via gus_eson’s message
01/09/04 $245,000 down 51% via fabianblowsmessage

I hate to see people lose money but keeping track of it here will be a warning to others if this guy ever tries to do this again.

I like the guy because he makes me and my returns look GREAT. He's my anecdotal example of how easy it is to beat the pros.

Doogie just updated the site with bullshort about how "the 'trade' went against him" and he's looking for market weakness in the first few weeks of the year to exit a little better. "Trade"? This was a mere "trade"? I thought it was more than just a mere "trade". Yeah, right Doogie! And now he wants to exit! I thought it was staying the course!

I wish the mainstream financial press would pick up on this more.

He now needs MORE than a double to get back to even... Then another double to meet his goal.

01/13/04 $241,295 down 51.7%, posted on web site!

The sum is now off the graph on the low end... so he shrunk the graph and eliminated the old $300K level! LOL.

Here is how the simple indexes have done if people just put their money there.

What I'm Doing

01/13/04
I am still holding my double short Nasdaq 100 position. My logic may be insane, but I think I will get a better exit position in the first few weeks of the new year. This trade has gone against me badly for the past few months. Just when the Nasdaq 100 would start to break down, a new surge of buying comes in. I am double emerged as well. Even though the index I have shorted is up 13%, I am down 51.74%. Ouch. A 2%-3% or 5% change will make a big difference for me. Markets can be very strong to start a new year, but they can also surprise on the downside. That's what I'm banking on. It's going to be a battle back to positive gains, then double that, but I'm up for the challenge and am positive that our overall investment themes in 2004 will provide huge profit opportunities.

It sounds like he is looking for MORE than a double to get back to even then he needs another double to meet his goal . At first it sounds like he is talking about and “exit” but later he talks about meeting his original goals. Heck, he needs about a 4x gain now to reach his goal!

» gus_eson - Doug's Million scheme.

It has been interesting to follow the discussion.
It was overheard that D. is confessing.
He expected a selloff in the market after 8/1/03 and is still predicting a selloff within 90 days with big gains in Rydex and Pro funds. His clients are still down 20% at this time.
He might be right but will unlikely not recover from his -52% loss.

Even a stopped clock is right twice a day. Doogie is a great example and exercise in proving how one CANNOT time markets. I don't doubt that we'll get a correction...perhaps even bigger and perhaps a full fledged crash SOMEDAY. Maybe soon. Maybe not. But timing is everything in his "buy my newsletter" business and he is a complete, lock-stock-and-barrel failure. Period. I hope that the "newsletter police" like Mark Hulbert get his picture plastered on the front page of the Wall Street Journal of how someone spent his professional life selling advice that was worse than snake oil. Doogie Fabian is a failure.

I could not agree with you more. You are absolutely right but how can we get the Media attention in order to warn the investing public that it all is a fraud with a lot of lies.

His latest Webinar is very convincing although it is not available to the public yet.

You'd think that SOME financial publication with pages to fill would have a field day with this short seller gone bad. We should Email the WSJ, Fortune, Forbes, Money and Kiplingers. It's a great story bound to catch someone's attention.
