» stocksystm - What was Doogie Thinking?

Was this a bout of temporary insanity or was he so hard up for subscribers that his only idea for drumming up some publicity was this longshot bid at doubling his money in a year? He has set himself up as a target of ridicule and scorn for years to come.

Here is a list of blowhards buy recommendations for VIP Investors and the returns. Now he is allocating 50% to RYPMX and 50% to RYVNX. These will probably return some more negative returns for all the outraged investors following the Mav's great advice and witty insight.

Rydex Juno -0.18% 8/1/03-8/18/03

Rydex Energy -5.02% 9/2/03-9/10/03 (50% allocation)

Profunds Ultra Bull 0.47% 9/3/03-9/17/03 (50% allocation)

Rydex Precious Mtsl -5.53% 9/11/03-9/29/03 (50% allocation)

Potomac SmCap Short -4.81% 9/29/03-10/8/03 (50% allocation)

Rydex Tempest 500 -9.41% 9/29/03-11/4/03 (50% allocation)

To Date Performance (since Aug. 1) -12.92%

In response to message posted by fabianblows:

Is this total correct? I am using your -12.92%

08/03/03 $500,000
08/15/03 $480,840
09/12/03 $432,098
09/30/03 $468,000 ???
10/28/03 $375,000 down 25% & still short
10/31/03 $343,000
11/19/03 $435,400 down 12.92%

It looks like he's made a good deal back from this market weakness. Did he double down?

How can you have more than 100% allocated as you show? It adds up to 250%. Are you sure you don't mean 20% per fund? Or did he borrow from his trust fund? smile

In response to message posted by Kirk:

Kirk, The list I gave was the performance of the funds he recommended that the investors to his service. Your ordinary Joe Blow that subscribes and followed the "Mavs" advice would have received an astounding -12.92% return on their investment. In an up market this is lousy obviously. As he switches his buy/sell recommendations from bullish to bearish and is obviously confusing even himself.

His million dollar challenge is a different monster and he lists a disclaimer not to follow his lead on this. I would recommend to the Mav if he wants to even have a chance at 7 digits he may want to withdrawl his remaining 340K and go to Vegas. Otherwise there is not a chance in hell of getting close to a mil. He'll be damn lucky to break even at this point.

Currently the website says as of 11/15/2003 $349,131. This is from the graph area below the 10/28/03 update. 11-15 was a Saturday.

So how is this?

08/03/03 $500,000
08/15/03 $480,840
09/12/03 $432,098
09/30/03 $468,000 ???
10/28/03 $375,000 down 25% & still short
10/31/03 $343,000
11/19/03 $435,400 down 12.92%

11/15/03 $349,131 down 30.2%

It looks like his website is now down
http://dougsmillion.com/
Probably a 30% loss when you are instructing folks how to double money in a year is not a good idea. Now he needs nearly a triple to reach his $1M goal. ouch!

The scale on his graph is a joke...
http://dougsmillion.com/
<img src=http://dougsmillion.com/images/lt_box_gr... width=145 height=169>

down 30% and yet he shows it graphically as less than 10%...

08/03/03 $500,000
08/15/03 $480,840
09/12/03 $432,098
09/30/03 $468,000 ???
10/28/03 $375,000 down 25% & still short
10/31/03 $343,000
11/19/03 $435,400 down 12.92%

11/15/03 $349,131 down 30.2%

talk about only fooling himself.

» gus_eson - Doug's Million scheme.

Following all the comments on this subject I am surprised that nobody has suggested that it is a fraudolent way to get his clients to invest in specific funds where D. has earlier invested in order to up the Nav so he can profit on a sell of these funds.

In conclusion IT IS ALL A FRAUDULENT GAME.

Please let me know what you think and what can be done about it.
