Abby says, "She also noted that her caution about tech and telecom stocks in 2000 prompted her to advise selling stocks then.."

As I recall she made a tiny change in sector allocations. Hardly a wholesale move out of tech. She spins like Bob Brinker.

Norm

As I recall it was a 5% adjustment Abby made at that time. She's a regular Whirling Dirvish.
Her year end predictions are great too. Does she actually say THIS year? Forty something percent up from here on the S&P? I want some of whatever it is she smokes.

I swear I was going to write that I wanted whatever she is smoking before I read your post. How can they pay her several million dollars a year as an analyst? What a joke!

FWIW, Kirk, AJC is extremely reliable ST contrary indicator. Good for ST drop within 3 days...

First found by Don Sew at SI...this indicator has worked over 20 times in a row....

Ya think she's shilling for Goldman!....Nah, too obvious....8-)

Abby Joseph Cohen G-S Alert this am:

Investor risk aversion is now intense, leading to a careful review of assets and liabilities in the equity market outlook. Assets include the strong underlying structure of the US economy; substantial recovery from capital spending and inventory excesses; mild inflation; and sound Fed policy. Liabilities include questions on corporate accounting (already cleaner); wealth effect impact on consumers and corporations (already factored into our economic forecast); weaker dollar (boosts economic growth but raises questions about global flows); momentum strategies (pendulum swings too far in both directions; and unintended consequences of new legislation. We think equities are priced too cheaply.

» 750a - abby

Abby has been bullish all the way down from 5000 on the Naz. What a dummy. She should be fired. She can spin with the best of them. Eventually things will bottom and then she'll crow about how she told us so. Even a broken clock is right twice a day. What a blathering kook. Her and Buttapaglia should shack up. Birds of a feather getting paid a kings ransom. I just dont get it.

Abby is to GS as

Brittny Spears is to Pepsi, tight jeans or implants.

The look good to the target audience and this gets the product they "spokesmodel" for in front of their target audience.

This gets you to pay attention to their brokerage and then maybe listen to their analysts...

Individual stock analysts are paid to create volatility... not make money for the brokerage customerss (except for when they pump stocks for investment banking reasons.) The volatility means more commissions.

I'm not sure why people get so upset to "learn" this now...

I like Abby because she is polite and gives her opinion. Too bad it has been wrong for so long.
