When I have seen her on TV she always appears to be calm and is very good at choosing her words. I read a review by Paul Farrell over on Cbsmarketwatch of a recent book by John Nofsinger: "Investment Madness". He describes several types of investor "madness". I like and respect Abby J. Cohen. When you go to a used car dealer, do you expect them to tell you the car you are looking at is anything less than wonderful? Why do people expect "used stock certificate dealers" to be any different? As long as their record is public and above board, I have no problems. Abby and Joe Batapaglia were bulls but they had published asset allocations and we can easily measure their performance if we so desire. They were fairly well diversified. Tech was selling in 2000 so that is what they talked about. GM sells its Corvette for little profit I am told, but it is good advertising for them to make and build the car as it brings in new technology that they later put into other cars that they make in larger volumes. Sort of a loss leader of sorts I suspect. What I don't like is the analysts that were pumping internet stocks for their investment bank clients just before the shares "unlocked"... Some "pumpers" were actually short!
