History Lesson: don't forget dividends. Let's take a REAL look at both large caps and small caps (total market) during Brinker's "secular bear market"....
15-year compound annual returns:

1966-1980
S&P 500 -- 6.71%
Small Caps -- 14.09%

1967-1981
S&P 500 -- 7.11%
Small Caps -- 15.64%

1968-1982
S&P 500 -- 6.96%
Small Caps -- 12.89%

20-year compound annual returns:

1966-1985
S&P 500 -- 8.66%
Small Caps -- 15.25%

In all these periods, stocks beat the heck out of bonds and cash. Focus on the numbers. Focus on the long term. Ignore what amounts to entertainment newsletter hype posing as serious investment advice.
