Hi Rande, Had a friend email me and ask what I thought of 101 now after they read this post of mine and yours right below it.

I didn't take offense but I am wondering... it does look like a 'pot shot'.

Will, I always enjoy reading Ur posts, but I really want to thank you for the year of quotes. I passed those along saying, "I knew my head hurt sometimes while listening, seeing these together kinda of tell me why!"

I also liked DeepThroat's Customer Service post which I shared with friends along with my comment, "Well, althou I've differed with BB on political views from the beginning and felt for years he was rude beyond reason with callers, I'm far ahead of where I would have been without him keeping me in the market during the 90s!" We often hear "Bob is great because he helped me to stay fully invested during the 90s." Well, this may sound harsh, but anyone who needed help staying fully invested during the Greatest Bull Market of All Time probably isn't at a level of market knowledge or investor acumen where their opinion on anything investment-related, Bob Brinker included, is worth much. Sorry, but truth be known.

Dave,

I wish I could let his political commentary roll off my shoulders, and I probably could (and have done in the past), but for the fact that he has been spending so much time on it. I wish he'd stick to money talk. He's better at it, and he wouldn't agitate a block of listeners.

In response to message posted by be6:

The unfortunate thing about Rande's comments is that it relies on hindsight. Remember, back during the Clinton-Gore economic miracle that was the 90s, there were several Malox moments as investment advisors from Elaine Garzereli to Ralph Acampora to many others were flipping in and out trying to incorrectly time the market, when we were in a sustained macroeconomic trend up. Yes, it took some guts in 1994, 1997, and 1998 to stay invested (and call correction bottoms). Many of the flip-floppers couldn't figure out which way was up during that time. Yet, one voice in the wilderness called out to stay the course, and that was Brinker.

Now, using hindsight, we can say that anybody buying into the "new economy" or "new internet technology" or "new wireless era" hype early this year were totally clueless about the change in direction in the macroeconomic trend. Yet, again one lone voice in the wilderness cried out that in manias, "these things always end badly." Yep, Bob again.

» DeepThroat - Where's The Beef??

Jack, Mark, David, or whoever...

I keep waiting for SOMEONE to cite some facts ...no, ONE FACT... that Bob has ever been right about anything!

When Will, or I, or Rande, or Kirk, or whoever post some facts that PROVE brinker has screwed up, all we get in return are platitudes and "feel-good" subjective replies.

Brinker Defenders: WHERE'S THE BEEF??? WOULD SOMEONE PLEASE CITE SOMETHING IN HIS RECORD???

Are you speaking of someone adding TEFQX as a B2B fund in January and then going on about it in the Feb MT? THAT is about as amateur as it gets...chasing hot fund performance.

It sure has gone badly... he was right on that!

What Rande is talking about is novice or uninformed is ANYONE that jumps in and out no matter what Ralph, Elaine or Bobby says. The clueless, uninformed investor ARE The ones that jumped in and out.

Remember, Bob was talking about a bear market in 1988 AFTER he exited at the bottom. Now he is talking about one that has yet to happen.

Sure, he helped many that are amateurs do better than on their own, but the lone voice I remember is "BUY IMMEDIATELY" at $83... hard to get too excited about getting out of the market in Jan to avoid a 10% correction... THAT is considered amateur stuff by most.... to even think you can get in and out...

Mark,

How many times are you going to tell us that? Does Bob have you on the payroll or what? You're starting to sound like my son's cowboy Woody when he pushes the button. Maybe you're just trying to wear some of us out. Or maybe you believe if you say something enough times it becomes true. (such as Clinton-Gore having anything to do with the economic miracle)

In response to message posted by Will_L:

Will - my attempt at humor was not really aimed so much at Jack Swanson. I chose Swansong because of the rumors of today being Bob's last show (get it -his Swansong). My real name is Jack and the first four letters of my last name do begin with Swan. In retrospect, it was stupid. I knew that there was a real Jack Swanson already on this site and should have realized he probably would not appreciate my humor. Well - I learned my lesson. It will be interesting to see if today is really Brinkers swansong. Taking a page from Richard Nixon, "We might not have Bob Brinker to kick around anymore." Should know in a few hours.

I can't stand MoneyTalk when Brinker talks politics. I listen because I like to hear about investing. During the last few weeks, I shut the program off because I could care less about what Brinker thought about politics. He did the same thing a few years ago when it looked like we were going to have another Gulf War. He kept harping on Saddam rather than talking investments. In my view, he should stick to investing and leave the politics to Rush and the other talking heads.
