Jack, I found your posts to be objective. I think you just got off to the wrong footing because your alias is strikingly similar to another poster on this site and many here have been ambushed on bb.com when people posted under their aliases.

I personally enjoy the variety of posts on both sides of the Brinker fence.

Hey bottomfeeder - here is a follow up to your point. Do you think that there may be a countertrend rally in the QQQ sometime in the next 4 to 6 months? If so, and the QQQ hit the $90's and Brinker said sell, would you think that overall he made a good call, even though his timing was off?

Jack

I enjoy all posts as well, although I realize that I'm on the correct side of the Brinker debate. It is amusing to watch those who ride with the tide of the market blast a successful Market Timer like Brinker. Hey, as long as I know I'm right, that's all that matters.

I will note that many folks probably learned alot from the summer QQQ trade. True, Brinker got all out with a profit, but I think even he learned that it's a bit much to expect Average Joe Sixpack Citizen who doesn't know the difference between a stock and a bond to follow his on-air advice. But for those of us with a little experience, he's advise has been like a "money printing machine" over the years.

Jack, Other than changing the entry price, the exit price and the time frame, Brinker's QQQ call was right on. Might be a little early or a little late but still pretty good considering.

David - you are right. My name is similar to the famous Jack and I was trying to be funny. It was a stupid thing to do and I apologize to all (especially Jack). I have nothing to do with whoever is ripping off Will's name. I have changed my name to avoid confusion. I appreciate your objective posts.

Jack (that is my real name)

DT,

I too recall Bob's babbling about the public outcry if the guy with the popular vote lost the electoral college and the election.

In Bob's world (kind of like Wayne's world), we would now be treated to endless video on TV showing election workers in all 3000 counties across the U.S. holding ballots up to the light with magnifying glasses. We would probably have about 1000 lawsuits going, 50 state Supreme Courts ruling all at the same time etc. Bob would then have the opportunity to call the entire U.S. a banana republic. Glad we had the wisdom of the founding fathers to give us the electoral college. Another example of the lack of understanding that Bob has.

In response to message posted by Swan1:

Thanks.

I was just about to suggest you ask dean@suite101.com to change your handle so you would not seem so offensive.

I get REALLY tempted to just blast out posts from people that steal identities, but sometimes you get someone innocent so I didn't.

I HAVE asked that management make it a requirement for people to post a valid email address on a for pay server to post here... but, alas, not all the 1200+ topics here are as popular as this one and they would LOVE to have this sort of "problem"....

Sort of deal that the price of freedom means that some assholes get through such as the latest that stole Will's name. Will, send an email to jason and dean @suite101.com telling them the post and that it isn't you and they can delete that person's account if they didn't register with a valid email address. I don't have access to that information so I can't. I didn't delete the post as I wanted a record, but I did delete the text as shown here: http://www.suite101.com/discussion.cfm/i...

man, I hope I earn a ton of sponsor visits and they sign up a few accounts for all this trouble!

Sorry Jack,
A little of that went a long way one day in Brinkerland. But I've alwasy believed it tis better to have a sense of humor than no sense at all and there was no harm done. In fact there cannot be any real harm in what is said on an obscure thread devoted to a two bit radio show that is about to get the axe this afternoon. smile

Swan,

We don't hate Bob, we just want him to behave. He is stubborn and won't behave so we have to swat him on his rear on occasion. I do this with my little boy when he misbehaves and I don't hate my little boy.

If Bob's Q trade makes money in my lifetime, I'll be among the first to come over here and give him an attaboy.

Bob's political commentary sort of rolls off my shoulders. I don't really consider his political outlook as having a bearing on his market timing ability. That said, it did appear that Bob initially thought that the Presidential election was going to be a non-event impacting the market since the "stock market never discounts the same news twice."

Ironically, when Bob finally got around to saying that the market was reacting to almost every news bite about Bush v. Gore, the election was over, and the market didn't even sneeze. I think Bob got a little panicked over the short term nature of the market's behavior and that got the better judgment out of him.

Bob's ability to recommend short term trades still leaves a lot to be desired as evidenced by the May counter-trend rally trade. A brilliant identification and entry point, a terrible exit point and poor handling of the trade (no early stop loss). I have maintained that Bob doesn't give enough consideration to "exogenous" events that are always out there trying to ruin what might otherwise be a great trade.

Perhaps Dan has some views on that, as he seems to have a lot of trading experience.
