BB used to talk about his Super Bowl anniversary all the time in years past. He has not mentioned it for some time.

I think it is very telling that he hasn't announced his renewed contract yet. I give it a 90% chance that today is his last show.

I won't be listening, but I'll check here later for the news.

I logged on to the BrinkerBot Yahoo Club, and found it to be all the Brinker lovers who are too cheap to subscribe and are now locked out of brinker land. You would recognize many of the posters.

I posted the facts of the qqq trade (just the facts m'am) and was roundly shouted down. It was just like the old days except Jr. didn't erase my post. Who needs it. I removed my own account from the login list.

Bob, I know you read and sometimes post here, so:

Mr. Brinker, thanks for the personal telephone call to inform me I am no longer a desirable subscriber. It wasn't necessary because I had already decided (and posted here) that I had thrown away the renewal notice.

I don't know why you called me personally, but if it was to pick a fight, I guess you were disappointed. I always cut short unwanted telephone solicitations as politely as possible.

In 1999, Bob said if his model went bearish, he would exit the market no matter how he felt. We all heard him say that MANY times.

In the Feb 2000 MT, Bob is still not bearish as he writes "In the event the market gained 10% over the next year, our current low risk equity allocation coupled with money market earnings would yield a return of 7%, missing out on only a small portion of such an advance." Clearly not bearish then...just avoiding risk of a downside.

The January Market Timer went to 60% cash and said it was to avoid risk. Bob would not admit to being bearish until many, many weeks later and the S&P had dropped about 8%. I think he also said there would not be another high in 2000 (which was soon proved wrong).

Anyway, back to January: The market pretty much rallied after Bob went to cash and Bob then crowed about how well his technology portfolio was doing with ONLY 40% market exposure. He even had a new TEFQX fund in the hottest area of the internet.

So, who is lying? Was Bob lying in 1999 when he said he would get out of the market 100% if his model went bearish or Bob yesterday when he said his model went bearish in January? or both times?

I don't care if people are trying to sell something but I DO care when they misrepresent the truth. I believe this borders on a case of false advertising.

Now won't that be special Dan, if Brinker lets you hang around till April, gives you the heave ho during a personal phone call explaining your shortcomings and then calls his MOABO in May, leaving you in the dark after all these years? Course that last part is about as likely as winning the lotto so I don't imagine you will lose too much sleep. smile

Not all of the reasons I lost confidence in brinker are financial. How can you trust a guy who's ego will NEVER EVER allow him to admit he was wrong about ANYTHING. A trivial example:

Prior to the election he stated that IF one candidate won the popular vote and not the electoral vote, there would be a public outcry such as not seen since the civil war. Well, he not only showed a lack of constitutional understanding, but his prediction was dead wrong. His policy will never allow him to discus this topic again, except to deny he said it.

A better example:

As recently as last month, he said a tax decrease or a rate cut were idiotic beyond belief because they would stimulate an overheated economy.

Neither President Bush nor Dr. Greenspan agree, as can be seen in the following news stories:

Bob's record of predicting is great only if viewed through the corrective lens of historical revisionism. That's why he cuts off callers and posters who try to hold him accountable.

No, I guess I won't lose too much sleep. But I will feel a lot better if he calls MOABO between now and my subscription renewal letter--or (gasp) personal phone call, as the case may be!

Seriously though, I would not like to be told I cannot renew. I'd like to be able to make that decision myself on the basis of how I feel about his judgment when the time comes. I do admit I am skating on some thin ice, however, by occasionally posting what I view as constructive and hopefully helpful criticism of Bob's tactics of late, but which he may unfortunately interpret as evidence of my "unworthiness".

Probably I should just crawl into a bunker until renewal time and keep my mouth (or fingers) shut. That would be the wise thing to do. But I don't recall having been accused of being exceptionally wise of late, so I suppose I shall continue to stick my foot in my mouth, and at the same time hopefully ducking the ax.

Now I must get ready for church--to go and, among other things, pray for no phone call.

Rande - you are a smart guy and you give good advice. I followed you closely on the Brinker site before he booted you. You are one of the reasons that I came over here. What I see happening is that you and others on this site have become so hateful of Brinker that it has totally jaded your perspective. You all are like Philadelphia lawyers, analyzing every word he says to pick it apart and prove him wrong. You also have the audacity to think that the people who listen to Brinker are stupid and that you all need to show them his evil ways. It is a bad way to go in my opinion.
