There are two PBS business shows I recommend watching. They are "Nightly Business Report" and "Wall$treet Week with Luis Rukeyser".

"Nightly Business Report", or NBR, I watch while eating my dinner. It is a daily wrap-up of the days business headlines and stock market report. I just found a site that has their transcripts for FREE!

Rukeyser sells the transcripts for Wall$treet week so he won't get a free link plug from me, but I do like the show and keep wondering how Gail Dudak can sit there week after week as the "Lone Bear" in Ruheyser's "Elves Index". Many hate the show, but I find it entertaining and often the guests give good food for thought. If you like puns, the show should be a hit for you. To Lou's credit, he has been a bull for as long as I remember (but I only remember 5 yrs or so for his show....)

Kirk, would you mind posting the times for both these shows. I tried searching both PBS and Channel 9- KQED web sites but could not find it.

No problem. Amazing that finding the times would be so difficult. Probably a very "pretty" website, but not too useful it seems.

KQED Ch9 SF CA

NBR is on Mon-Fri 7:00PM to 7:30PM

Wall$treetWeek is on Fridays 7:30-8:00PM

I believe KTEH - 54 San Jose Area also has the shows but I don't konw the times.

One of the best things about Wall Street Week is Luis Rukyser's dry sense of humor. The elves index could be another contrary indicator. I enjoy watching the show, but Luis has been on vacation of late.

NBR had Andrew Addison on tonight. 6 of 7 of his stock picks since Aug. '97 were WAY up....37 to 57% or so. Anyone subscribe to his newsletter or know more about him?
Transcript of Addison interview including his stock picks.

Kirk,, Thanks for the NBR link. Addison's discussion was a good read. I found it interesting that he is bullish on gold, though. Perhaps he is seeing inflation in the future??

Also, regarding your comments on Luis Rukeyser's Wall Street Week show...I watch the show from time to time, and find it entertaing, but of only minimal benefit for investment advice. I figure that the show is too widely watched to provide me any unique insights. The puns are great, though. BTW, I heard Rukeyser give a two-hour speech in Philadelphia last year, and was captivated...he is one hell-of-a speaker...quite a political thinker as well...could give Tim Russert a run for his money on Meet the Press, IMO.

I agree on WallStreetWeek comments Bill. Sometimes the guests give me good food for thought, but I can't say I've evern gotten a really great idea from watching the show other than a recent visit from the Merrill CEO that got me to thinking just how valuable finding and giving good, unbiased investment advice is going to become as we get more and more away from full service brokers.

Tonight on NBR they had Jonathan Pond. I really like this guy. I don't think he is a timer like Bob Brinker, but his advice always seems sound and appropriate. He highlighted the top fund for the quarter and I own it! Montgomery Global Communications Fund. I couldn't figure out if I should buy Motorolla or some sort of cell phone play so I bought this fund many moons ago. It went nowhere for several yrs and now it seems to be on a roll! I think old Moto is still stuck in the mud.
