I'm in the mode where my personal holdings are now so large that I sell some every time there is a big move up. I did this with HP in 1999-2000 too. I do this because I'd not take cash and go out and purchse this much of the stock... but I'm sure not going to let a good run end either. This method is a good compromise. Lets say I have $50,000 in the stock and it goes up to $60,000. I'll sell $5,000 worth to lock in profits no matter what happens. I can do this no matter how high it goes.... it is like taking SOME poker chips off the table and putting them in your pocket. Dec 15th Petrowatch GGR Update
Away from the rumour mill, we can confirm that GSPC is hard at work to find a technology partner to help it develop the Deen Dayal gasfield at KG basin NELP-III exploration block KG-OSN-2001/3, where it is drilling its fourth exploration well. An industry source tells us GSPC is preparing a data package of the block, copies of which will be offered to seven global majors who have expressed an interest in forming an alliance with the company to develop the discovery: Agip, Anadarko, British Gas, BP, ExxonMobil, Shell and Total. It’s expected the packages will be ready by 7th or 8th January – at around the time GSPC expects to reach target depth of 5700 metres. By 15th December, GSPC had already crossed 5000 metres depth. All seven majors have made presentations to GSPC highlighting their skills in developing high-temperature, high-pressure fields like Deen Dayal. “Once these companies pick up the data package they will be given 45 days to come back with offers,” we hear. GSPC also plans to make presentations to the seven companies detailing its work on the block over the past three years and what it expects in return from its technology partner. “Maximum information will be given so they can save time and quickly come back with offers,” reveals a source. GSPC knows it needs a partner with superior technical competence to itself to meet development targets for the field. Bidders will also be asked what kind of relationship they want with GSPC. Encouragingly, GSPC appears comfortable with diluting its equity in the block and sharing operatorship with any new partner. “It will be better to have joint operatorship,” we hear. “Each of these companies is a global major and has experience of developing a field of this type even though this is the first of its kind in India.” In June, this year Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi said first gas from Deen Dayal would come to shore by December 2007. He said his earlier announcement of 20-tcf reserves was a “conservative” estimate and could be revised upwards. NOTE: GSPC knows that technology to develop a high-temperature, high-pressure field such as Deen Dayal can be bought off the shelf. But it is also mature enough to accept that its lack of experience in using such technology could delay the project. “GSPC has been learning on the job at this block,” we hear. “Sometimes too much learning on the job is bad. When there are companies who have done this kind of development already why waste time and make mistakes learning on the job?” As we go to press, we hear drilling of the fourth well by rig Perro Negro 3 has “slowed down” due to problems with the drill bit. Plans to reach target depth of 5700 metres by mid-December have been delayed by a fortnight. GSPC holds 80% stake in KG-OSN-2001/3; Jubilant Enpro of India holds 10% and GeoGlobal Resources of Canada holds 5%. Another 5% is held by Roy Group (Mauritius), a GeoGlobal spin-off. -- posted by Kirk » Hu - Re: GSPC Prepares to Select Partner for its KG Discovery In response to GSPC Prepares to Select Partner for its KG Discovery posted by Kirk:"JP owns a good percentage of the company and I’ve not read of him selling any shares. I’ll want to take more profits if he starts to sell in earnest. We can help each other here watch for this." Well, you can save yourself the bother of looking. His shares are restricted, and aren't even saleable until after commercial production kicks in. (And we're a couple of years away from that.) BTW, I'm thinking we'll be 20 by February. So, sit tight. (The goods are there...) Wendell, my man... what do you say? YIPPEE, as we used to say. Hi Wendell Amazing stock. Hard to believe we've made SO MUCH MONEY in this! Remember, nobody went broke taking a few profits. Put a few poker chips in your pocket so you can play another day if your hand goes cold. This could keep going up a lot more... or it could crash from here. I like to be ready either way so taking profits as it goes up can look silly, but I remember well seeing six figures of profits vaporize in this stock back in 2000... Now I have some of that banked (in cash as well as diversified to others I have that are selling off on tax loss selling...) and still plenty of shares to enjoy every gain. Yipeeeee!!!! -- posted by Kirk » lcha - Re: Re: Re: GSPC Prepares to Select Partner for its KG Discovery In response to Re: Re: GSPC Prepares to Select Partner for its KG Discovery posted by Kirk:What's hard to believe is how you techies stumbled upon a rare super high flying energy stock! Though it certainly wasn't intentional, I suppose it eventually became an investment in management (i.e., the team at Northfield Capital.) That, combined with a lot of "ear to the track" effort, kept me in it as well. Needless to say, I've taken a good number of chips off the table already. (Sold a lot WAY, WAY, WAY too cheap! LOL) And not to say that I love this stock... but, holy cow! How could anyone not love it? No doubt about it, this was (and is) our "moonshot." Seems we've left the earth's gravitation field some time ago, and the law of gravity no longer has us in it's grasp. The nearest gravitation must be the moon, as we continue to be drawn towards it! Rumor is that "the real number" on this discovery is going to be BIGGER (significantly so) than the mind boggling 20 TCF that was being tossed around last June. (Why, there might even be enough gas down there to make a grown man pee his pants... of course, it probably wouldn't take quite as much to make an old(er ?) man like you to leak a little squirt or two out... LOL. ) The stock is trading remarkably strong. Way too strong, in fact, to say that nobody knows anything... Plainly, somebody knows something. This stock may be well into the twenties before we "peons" ever find out what that something is. (Especially if the TCF number I happened to have caught wind of has any truth to it...) So I's sellin' nothin' mo'... 'til "something" comes to light. -- posted by Hu » Hu - Re: Re: Re: Re: GSPC Prepares to Select Partner for its KG Disco In response to Re: Re: Re: GSPC Prepares to Select Partner for its KG Discovery posted by lcha:Icha, let's not kid anybody...
