In response to message posted by dna2:

Thanks for the kind words, dna. Personally , I'd like to think I could provide them with ample funding, if they show some abnormal talent ( their mother provides the genes here) so that I could send them to a big time school.

Saving that, I just want to spend my winters where you are smile ( Well , we can dream right ? ) Let's all hope corporate has a good idea of how they want to execute their game plan. So far...it all looks good to me. Still...it always comes under the heading of "gambling money".

Now , what are the odds on the Huskies to win the Rose Bowl.

Good to hear from you again, my friend.

» davekro - Question

Assume, like today, the last sale was at about .25...

If a ONLY one limit order to by BOWG at say .16 was in place and then someone placed a market 'buy' order, would a transaction take place?
If not, why not?

Thanks

In response to message posted by Dave_San_Jose_CA:

I would "assume" he market order would be filled. I would not assume it would fill at .16 or anything near it. With thinnly traded penny stocks market orders are a real adventure. One I am not about to try.

krayn I have all the shares I want for now. If some body wants them they are going to have to pay a great deal more than it peaked out last week.

» SteveT - Hmmmm

Somebody wanted 4000 shares during the last hour today. They must have wanted them enough to pay 33% above the last trade. It is starting to look to me like either the market markers are "playing" or someone with inside knowledge is accumulating.

Did someone actually buy BOWG yesterday for .30 when the bid was .18? That's a built-in 40% loss given the current spread, not including commission. Somebody must have wanted them real bad.

Yes I noticed that too, I think it was 900 shares, right? Still not earth shattering but positive none the less.

SUITE101.COM UPGRADES SERVER TO HANDLE INCREASED LOAD AND ENSURE FUTURE SUCCESS

Suite101.com recently upgraded its database server to handle the increased load and improve overall performance of our Web site as we continue to grow the Suite101.com community.

The new IBM Netfinity Server is significantly more powerful than the previous database server. The new server features a top-of-the-line Quad Xeon Pentium III chip, running at 700 MHz, and over 4 GB of RAM. Our previous database server ran at around 600 MHz with only 512 MB of RAM.

Large, complex Web sites like Suite101.com typically have what is called a "three-tier" architecture. The bottom tier of the site is a database containing most of the site's raw "content" (graphics, text, member information, etc). The middle tier is the site server, containing all the software and templates for the Web site itself. The third and final tier is the users' browsers. When users "request" a page from the Suite101.com Web site (eg, by clicking on a specific URL or link), the site server handles that request by pulling up the correct template and then pulling the necessary data from the database server, creating the requested page "on the fly." The faster the site and database servers can create the Web site pages on the fly, the faster users see the page (depending, of course, on the speed of their connection to the Internet and the speed of their own computer).

We are excited that the traffic on our Web site has demanded this upgrade. At times, our previous database server was performing at 85 percent capacity - the equivalent of always running your car at or near the red line on its tachometer. With over 375,000 members, 8 million page views a month (July) and 1.3 million unique users (July), it was important to upgrade the database server to ensure our visitors and Members continue to have a rewarding - and responsive - experience while on our site. As we continue to pursue strategic opportunities with clients such as Barnes & Noble Digital, the new server will also ensure that we can quickly respond to and handle significantly increased traffic on the Web site as a result of further contracts and partnerships.

Thanks for your interest!

Sara McGladdery Director of Investor and Public Relations Suite101.com, Inc.

Anyone notice any faster speed?

In response to message posted by Kirk:

At work, yes, it does seem to be a little faster. But we have a fast T1 connection here.

The proof of the pudding will be when I get home tonight and try it with my Juno 56K dial-up connection. Suite has been absolutely horrible from home, as I have reported in the recent past.

I will report later tonight, via a post to this thread, what kind of improvement, if any, I see with my dial-up connection.
