They'll probably get $1 or more a share for a tax refund if they held under a year and so they might get to buy the shares back for less than $1 using the tax savings if they really want the stock. The tough part is where to buy more when this happens. We won't mention the shares I bought above $1 that I thought were at great prices. Sometimes I'm wrong and thank goodness for asset allocation and diversity. Then again, great opportunity for more gambling! One thing is for sure... SOMEBODY is buying all the tax loss shares that come onto the market... Some of us have had nets out for catching babies... We have no plans to shut down... we have cash to burn for several years. What IS interesting is the ideas that started this place turned out to be correct.. 1. That Banner advertising would eventually fail (as a mainstay to make money) 2. That search engines would become "pay for good location engines" 3. That community will be an important use of the internet. 4. That free and open exchange of information would be vital (no censors, etc....) 5. That spending big bucks for advertising does not a business model make. (I can remember MANY complaining here that we didn't spend enough on advertising or have enough press releases...) Questions remaining: 1. Will we make a profit or even have revenue? A: Who knows? I worked on long wavelength fiber optics for a decade (1984 to 1994) before people even started to talk about fiber for the internet... We lost money for all that time also but we saw a future for long wavelength fiber optics and now there are many companies with very high valuation doing just that.
