» matttheduck - full disclosure

this document does a good job of setting out the risk factors in taking this from a website to a money maker. one that was left out was the ability to convert "members" into willing participants in the ecommerce they intend to pursue. i hope the company is conducting surveys of its members to ascertain how many, if any, are going to be willing to sign up to receive offers from e-vendors. i'd also be interested in knowing the percentage of "members" who are actually active here, and how many signed up for the chance to win and never visited the site again.

Matt, I totally agree with your observations which is why I have not rolled the dice and taken a position in the company. The few other subject areas I have visited have been virtual ghost towns. I'm not a fan of chat rooms; but I have checked out the general chat room (not the financial chats) on several occasions and have never seen more than a half dozen people in there at a time. I hope I'm wrong as a lot of people here have invested; but I just don't see it.

Good points.

one thing to consider. I am working here as the "R&D Lab" where we show people "what can be done". Most of the other effort might be considered "building infrastructure".

Consider this... what is the total market cap of Yahoo! and compare it to this stock. IF we put some investment into the other 1200 topics and they scale easily with what we've learned here, then there is great hope.

I have ALWAYS considered my investment of time and money here as "pre IPO" type money with that sort of risk/rewards. What we have now is a very good R&D Proto that is half finished. IF we get to the point where the R&D proto is fully functional (i.e. producing revenue from the large membership) then I would expect the company to be much more valuable.

What if... You like the site and were told that if you view the advertisements then you would get $1 for each that you could keep, donate to charity or donate to your favorite editor for keeping the site running for your enjoyment? Do you think you might then click on a few advertisements knowing that this is far less than 41 minutes of commercials to get 19 minutes of talk radio about investing? People ALREADY pay with time for stuff that they think is free.....Watch a 30 minute sit com on TV and report back how many minutes are commercials.... You will see why I don't watch them.

BTW, I am just speculating. I do not know if you will be able to direct money you earn towards me and other editors, but I DO know that you will have the opportunity to earn money here and the fact that we are working with charitable organizations in not a coincidence.... You could always take the money you earn and then "support" your editors by subscribing to their newsletters, buying their writing, gardening books, etc..... hence my work on my investment newsletter... some support me now and I have high hopes for the future should we keep growing.

As a Libertarian type thinker, I can not think of a better way to do things... You don't have to pay for ANYTHING if you don't want to. That is, you don't have to read the advertisements. They will be optional. Of course, if all feel that way, we will close up shop and go do something else and we won't have this fun place to learn and interact.

The traffic we get on my site has become very significant. I could probably make a living now just on banner advertising at 1ยข per impression if that was in our model. Long term, I think banner advertising will fail so we are looking forward.

Anyway, it sure is "interesting" now not making money and having my investment in this company under water. Fortunately, I have limited my exposure to 3% and have traded(buy low - sell high) to get more shares for that level of exposure.

I have always respected the fact that when discussing the investment merits of BOWG you have always stated that this stock is a high risk proposition and should be considered as such.

Very strange.

Price isn't up or down much from where it has been lately.

Is it building a base or is this something weird?

Kirk,
Would you think volume might change in proportion to share cost? (Lower cost result in proportionally higher volume.)

Someone sure wants out of BOWG, yesterday's volume looks like the start. Most sales are in 5&10K. Of course at .20 you tend to trade in the thousands of shares. Den
