But I do have to laugh at the part about being a pump and dumper... as it would be pumping for a lower entry from from what my (and most everybody's) average costs are. And, in actuallity, the only people that probably buy as a result of doing any "pumping" as you say, are quite likely the "non-visionary" (hey... like that word for blind as a bat?) traders that are going to abandon the ship before it reached the big gains anyway. So, it's sort of self-defeating in the long term, I think, no matter what my own motive is.So "pump" is a word that seems to damage most everything, and accomplishes little (if anything.) I wasn't actually thinking in terms of a "pump," but more along the lines of... "here's the reality of what is happening in the internet world..." I did mention in one post that I bought some back in the sevens, I think after ditching a bunch at 10+. Some ot the "trading stock" I carried along from 3 or so. Other than that one post, it might be interesting to see just how many you can find in the last 6 or 8 months where I talked about buying it. It's true, that recently I think I did when it was under a buck. I think it might even have been under 75 cents. But, knock me all you want... I have no real problem with it. A long time ago I confessed to being very early to the party. I've owned a long position for almost as long as it's been trading. Made some good trades, and made some that I ended up sitting on for a long time. The show here ain't over yet, and I'll guarantee you that anyone just getting long now is not as early to the party as I was. I tell you one more thing though.... I've got a front row seat, have my feet propped up right now, and am just waitng for the curtains to be drawn back and the show to start. Anybody that buys this stock on a whim, as a trade, might well be prepared to get whipped around a bit. Buy some Tums along with it, because it's sure a wild one when it wants to be. Sure, there's information in the SEC documents that have been filed and even the few news releases that they have put out... But there's a ton of information in this thread (and not just my post), that offers something that might not be found anywhere else. At least, not in writing. I'm almost curious how many speculative start up ventures ever do have much information exposed to the general investing public about what they are doing. I sure remember the "expert" negative opinions of a good many posters on AWRE a few years back. And, on MRVC. Micro-caps that had been pummeled to under 5 dollars a share. (Just happen to be a few that I was whipped around in... trial by fire, so to speak.) And this talk about DD? Well... good luck with it. Whether you read it here or in the Wall Street Journal. An opinion is an opinion. Outside of actual SEC filings (and even those have been "fudged" at times, by companies that you would least expect it from), what isn't an opinion? It seems the same "set of facts" rather easily will produce 2 different opinions, almost as quickly as 2 people read them. I guarantee you that I am no spokesperson, or in any other way employed by Suite101. I do have a keen interest in what they are doing, believe it or not, for reasons other that the stock that I happen to own. It just so happens, I believe that I've learned enough of the direction this company is headed to believe that it will be a successful and very profitable business some day. When, I don't know. Like I said before, by and large my timing stinks. But, having lived a few years in the business world, I trust that I might have a little sense of what's happening here. I've also taken the time to learn a little bit about the management here. There's probably some VC capital on board here simply and purely because of the Bradshaw's, and it's my understanding at this time, that they is very little "concern" over what is happening right now in the market. They have a much longer time frame planned for a return on their investment, and are quite comfortable in allowing Suite101 to progress as it is. Now, understand that many of these type investors are probably "averaged in" to this deal at over 3 dollars a share. (That's doing the math on the private placement issue). It's true that I've done a little extra effort in finding out some number of things here. How? Well, I asked. And, I asked. And, I asked. And, I asked. Not on this board, Not on any other board.... they have contact information listed. They are a public company. You know, you are allowed to call and ask any public company questions about their business. They may not tell you much, but you still are allowed to ask. (Of course, it helps if you read the SEC filings and don't just call and pester them with information that is found elsewhere in public documents. And, I did do some homework...) And, after following the progression of a company for nearly two years and "looking over their shoulder" at what is going on, is it so surprising to think that there is a small return on that investment of time spent doing that? So, when a news release is put out, maybe certain things mean more to me, because of other things that I might happen to know or have been thinking about. Suite101 is a business idea that is so attractive, and is so appealing to me, that I would, and I have, put money behind it, even if it never suceeded and went to zero. Why? Because I believe the idea itself is too good for it not to suceed, even if the Bradshaw's can't seem to "do it." But, to tell you the truth, I don't have any particular reason for thinking they can't. Do you? In fact, I'd almost be curious to hear any well thought out reasons why any one thinks they (the Bradshaw's) can't. Of course, it would have to be very specific. And I'll even be real straightforward with you... I have one. Does that surprise you? Well, it shouldn't. I've tried to think of what "is or isn't" a real pitfalls along the way. Perhaps that's the place to start... list all possible pitfalls, and then evaluate them in detail. Think I haven't done that? Then, think again. But, it's not a closed book. I'm always looking for something that I may have overlooked, or miscalculated, or misperceived, or something else. Care to try to list one that I might not have already thought of? Please... be my guest. We can do an "open surgery" on it right here on this board. Examine all the filth and possible infectious diseases that seem to have invaded the ".com" world of businesses. I'll start by listing the one (and perhaps, only one) that I know of. If there were two that I was concerned with, then I would list two. Now, I've had two, and three, and four, and five... in the past. But, interestingly enough, I've been "plinking them off" one at a time. I think maybe I'm down to one. But, I'm shooting from the hip here, and might have to really screw my mind down and think about it to say for an absolute certainty about there being no others. In any case, there is one that looms larger than the others, at least, at this point in time. Oh, and these "pitfalls" should be written in as few ords as possible... like, money. (Which I do not believe is a one at this time, or in the foreseeable future.) Now, you might laugh when I tell you the one concern that I have right now. But, maybe you're going to have to remember something... I'm thinking quite some distance ahead here. And my "future concern" is, scalability. Someday, maybe I'll explain why, and what I mean by that, but I'm not inot doing it right now. I guess you can just think about it in the meantime. Some things are obviously very scalable, like the indexing and classification system. Computer hardware is generally reasonably easy to scale up. (But, those are not what I am referring to.) Maybe in time, the issue of scalability will shrink, and something else that seems less important now will seem more of a problem later. I still see some number of changes that need to be made on the site. But, there is progress in the right direction toward them. So, I am greatly encouraged in this last release. Another 6 months, and it will be even better. I think that they've proven they can do it without major glitches, and major expenses, even if it takes a month longer than anticipated. The internet's not going away. It's not going to die in the mean time, waiting an extra month. And, right now, Suite101 has a very visible presence is an area of vital interest... and I just don't somebody is going to "sneak by them" at this point in time. Not Yahoo. And certainly not About.com. And, I really don't know who some of you might be thinking otherwise. There is an amazing uniqueness to what has happened here, but it is only a "small seed" that is planted. About.com might grow, but the seed is different. They're just not going to grow into the same thing as Suite101 is positioned for. Not from what I see here. Now, Yahoo I have a lot of respect for, as some of you probably know. But again, different business model. As are some number of others. Well, isn't this fun. A lot of writing, and I probably really haven't said anything very "meaty" about what's happening here. Or, maybe I have. I don't know. I'm just talking (writing) out loud about "stuff" as I'm think about it. Still "hashing" this maybe. Ha... maybe if a few of you rascals goad me enough, I'll end up saying most of it anyway... It's early at the show, and the movie theater is still rather barron, as I look at the empty seats, vacated by investors and traders that came here once already for the popcorn and peanuts, but then left once the show didn't start right away. Hope you don't mind that I bought a whole row of seats, and plan on dong a little ticket scapling once the show does start. Hu -- posted by Hugs » dewam - They took out half the seats in my theatre Hugs: In my local theatre they took out every other row of seats, and installed tables. They cut the admission fee to $2, and set up a little booth at the back to sell beer. In the lobby, along with the popcorn, you can purchase a full range of foods they deliver to the table in front of you. Every show I have been to has been busy, and I have ended up spending more. I have enjoyed it more because of all the room, no kids kicking the back of the seat, and easy to walk to the bathroom and back (needed with all that beer) without stepping over all those legs. Due to these things, this theatre gets the majority of my business. I am a happy customer, and spread the word. When other theatres in town are closing, this one is packed.I'm glad this theatre-suite 101-is making changes, and have invested/gambled more in the belief that they can become profitable, if I am a happy customer. Den -- posted by dewam » Hugs - Re: They took out half the seats in my theatre Well, that's interesting, Den.I've decided that at the current price level bowg is at (actually, anything below a buck...), maybe there's really only one thing that anybody reading this would need to decide before investing here: Are they going bankrupt, or not? Of course, a time frame is needed, so consider two years. Maybe anything under two years shouldn't really be considered investing, anyway. If you say yes... then sell quick and get out. Go ahead and short sell the hell out of it while you're at it, if you're really convinced of it... If you don't know, or don't care to venture into any sort of prognistication on that... then do nothing. Join the masses, and just wait to see what happens. If you say no... then I think that you'd basically be exchanging your cash for the raw residual value here that's here by buying at the current price. I guess some would call this a "no brainer" buying opportunity. I've already alleviated my own concerns about their near term (2 year) financial condition. And, that's probably why I own as many shares as I do for under a dollar. Any really "good" info that I have I'm going to save. But I'll tell you when to expect it out of me... maybe about the time is ripe that it will bury a few shorts. (Yeah.... they're crawling all over this still. I can feel 'em. Those dark shadows surrounding it right now are those big bad buzzards circling overhead, waiting for it to die...) Hu -- posted by Hugs » Hugs - In bits and pieces. They're still "fitting together" for me here. You may have not noticed this new gem, but here it is anyway:http://www.suite101.com/pdf/whitepaper.p... Anybody could have found it by visiting the new Media Center, listed at the bottom of the left navigational column. If you didn't already know everything that Sandra writes about in it, then I'd suggest that you haven't done your homework well on what Suite101 has been and is doing, and probably haven't considered very carefully where they are headed. I think the stuff that is happening here is BIG news that hasn't been heard by too many people yet. Even those that use the site and even those that read here. Sure, maybe you read about it, but have you heard what it means? Well, I wonder. After all, I didn't exactly "put it together" when I first read about it either. I 've had to keep digging away at it, turning up bits and pieces of information scattered all over the internet... Suite101 is on the cutting edge, folks. They really are. And so few know it, or have even considered it... And that bowg is trading at 50 cents is... well, pardoner moi francaise... simply assinine. Hu P.S. Amazon is dead meat. Building warehouse with all their cash? How stupid is that? For the distribution of what? Books? Printed paper? What is the future of that? Come on... what happens when the majority of books are bought by electronic downloading onto devices that just haven't been perfected yet? Then what do you do with all the warehouse facilities? They're dead meat, I tell ya... -- posted by Hugs » Hugs - Latest improvements and changes By the way, if you haven't been to the "What's New" page lately, then you're in for a treat.
