The IT industry is implicitly included in the activity covered by the leading and coincident indexes for the service sector. However, within the overall service sector cycle, specific areas like IT can experience stronger or milder cycles.

For example, ECRI has developed leading and coincident indexes for FIRE (finance insurance and real estate) which has a somewhat more pronounced cycle than overall services.

Nevertheless, the fact remains that the overall services indexes remain relatively healthy. If that were not the case then the decline in IT would be even more pronounced.
