Even the dreaded "Rukyser Vacation Effect" can not stop this raging bull market!

Lou will be missing his 2nd show for his vacation tonight and the http://chart2.bigcharts.com:80/report?r=qchart&onbad=qbadsymbol&symb=djia&time=4&sid=1643&sec=x&xyz=3289453&s=339>Dow is up about 200 pts since his last show.

What other "sacred indicators" are left to be destroyed? 8)

Don't forget Elaine Garzarelli. She was very bullish on CNBC this week. Touted as a "very famous analyst known for her market predictions such as the crash of '87", it was never mentioned that she made a disastorous sell call at the absolute market bottom in 1996. Makes me wonder sometimes why I watch CNBC.

Makes me wonder sometimes why I watch CNBC.

Somehow it makes you feel smarter than watching "Days of our Lives" or "People's Court"? {grin}

I prefer not to kid myself so I watch People's Court. If I feel the need to watch one of these "ticker shows", I watch but with the sound off like when I am home working.

Elaine definatly deserves to be in the "Sell Signal" category. Her famous call left 1500 or more DOW points on the table from the 5200 level if I remember correctly. She's just another joke now and shows lose any credibility they have left having her on and not mentioning her famous call-from-grace.

More on the ticker-shows: They are cartoons as they bring out one fool after another to explain why a market at 8600 or so moves 20 points one way or the other during the day!!!

Kirk,

In percentage terms I can understand why the market can move 20 points in any direction and it really isn't much. However once the market jumps 100 points in a day, I start to wonder what is going on. I agree about the talking head phenomenon though; anyone can get up on the soapbox and be right sometimes. If you only point to the successes, the numerous failures somehow get convienently left out.

Michael, I do tend to exagerate and I love the term "talking head phenomenon". 8)

I'll even admit to watching these shows and getting sucked in, but I really believe they probably do damage to returns as they can entice you away from a good, solid, reliable plan for the latest and greatest hot investment. Then again, that is what they are supposed to do as "who makes money, other than you, if you keep your money in one place for 20 years? " They sell advertisements to people that want you to pay them commissions. This means buying and selling...

Dow up another 1.13% to 8906. I am worried there is something cooking. May be this is the right time to rollover my money from an earlier employer to a rollover IRA - a process which will take me out of the market for 2~3 weeks. Will be very interesting to hear Bob tommorrow.

Just a quick comment about Bob. Not to pump him up or tear him down---just an observation thru time.

Q: Any one know Howard Ruff?
A: Howard who...?
