Jorgensens on Money - Free Discussion Site
This archived discussion is "read only". « Previous 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 Next » » Kirk - Market Timing with Easan Katir I am sad to report that the Jorgensens are now promoting market timing. Jim and Easan Katir now manage money and say they get out of the market when it is going down and get back in when it is going up. (They make it sound SO easy!) They will sell you a tape or invite you to a $20 breakfast to learn how they do this (Big surprise, you turn over your money to them to manage, for a fee, and they follow Esian's trading strategy with it) They are even pumping commercials now for this where they say "get double digit returns nomatter what the market is doing". What is really funny is just a week or two ago Jim was saying now is a good time to buy but today they said Esian is "mostly in cash". Last week Jim said " I continue to expect the stock market to start a long-term run-up in the Dow in May or June and bring the Dow Industrials to over 11,000 by late this summer or early fall." ....so why the market timing crap? other than to get fees.... I believe Esian does much jumping in and out of the market so you should expect short term capital gains if you follow this strategy with taxable monies and I think it is FAR too risky to invest your retirement funds this way. -- posted by Kirk » AL_W - Re: Market Timing with Easan Katir In response to message posted by Kirk:Kirk, this doesn't surprise me. They have brought in a new program manager type dude, whose name I don't remember because he has not impressed me at all, to re-vitalize the show. Sooooo, this is just a show direction change. I got up late, and I am listening ( with interest )to the first hour replay they do in the 3rd hour. I think Easian has always been a individual stock timer, as he is heavy into TA. With the new director, they have just added the term market timer to why nothing looks worth jumping into right now. Interesting though, after the decline, they now choose that term. On the plus side, old man Jorgy has always said to use stop losses at -7%, so most should have avoided most of the big losses. -- posted by AL_W » DennisL - Re: Market Timing with Easan Katir In response to message posted by Kirk:I don't even listen to what the Jorgies have to say about the markets anymore. It's a load of crap that changes directions like a fart in the wind every week. Remember, Jim is the guy who, when asked by a caller a couple of years ago what a "SPYder" is, said that he thought it is some kind of a bond fund. What does that tell you? Also, the endless pimping of SIFE Trust Fund, that high expense ratio, loaded bank sector fund. How does that square with purporting to give the best possible investment advice on the radio and at breakfast seminars? At least he's also pimping the California Investment Trust Fund Group, which is pure no-load, low expense, and one of my favorites. As for Easan Katir, might as well call him Easan Kabrinker. He sounds like he believes that he has a shinier crystal ball than everyone else. Probably has an ego to match, too. I do like the money-saving tips that Rich gives and listen primarily for those ideas. -- posted by DennisL » Kirk - Rich says "Sell HWP/HPQ" A caller had paid $45 for HWP and asked Rich and Jim what to do. They got off a pitch for their money management seminar where they "buy stocks that are going up and sell stocks that are going down" then Richard said after a commercial break: "I'd sell Hewlett Packard on Monday and put the money into something that is going up." HWP/HPQ closed Friday at $17.44 -- posted by Kirk » SteveT - Re: Rich says "Sell HWP/HPQ" In response to message posted by Kirk:Yeah I am listening this morning too. Had to hear for myself I guess. To bad they have gone over to the "dark side".

Bay area is wondering, as I am, what happened to the Jorgensens on Money radio program the last two weeks, I think I just found out what happened or is going to happen.Supposedly, it still airs, or will air, on KYCY 1550-AM on Sunday mornings, but at 10:00 rather than 8:00. Jorgie's Web site says that the time change will be effective May 25th, but as I said, I haven't heard them at all the last two weeks. Whatever. KYCY is another weak-ass, two-bit radio station that barely comes in in the farther reaches of the East Bay where I live, as their former flagship station KABL is. Why don't the Jorgies find a real radio station that comes in well everywhere in the Bay area and is willing to broadcast all three hours of the program live? -- posted by DennisL » Kirk - Re: S.F. Bay Area Time Slot Moved? In response to message posted by DennisL:because they pay for their radio time. Call it another informercial. Most of these types of shows pay for the radio time... they even paid when they were on KABL... they syndicate the show and sell it to stations all over the US that are looking for programming... -- posted by Kirk » fphart - Jorgensens are no longer available from Yahoo or KERN... Folks,Looks like this revamped program isn't doing too well. I listened for a few weeks on Yahoo and wasn't mightily impressed. Recently, though, all traces of their presence on Yahoo have been erased, and one of their affiliates that had a reliable stream, KERN in Bakersfield, dumped them. Does anybody have a reliable alternative stream source to listen? Is it even worth the bother given the conflicting investment advice? -- posted by fphart » Kirk - Re: Jorgensens are no longer available from Yahoo or KERN... In response to message posted by fphart:Here is a list of their stations and their main web page Send a note to Rich and ask how you can listen Got a question for Rich?
