» Rande - matttheduck,

matttheduck,

Good idea about spreading the tax hit over a couple of years if the decision is made to reallocate. If the time horizon is long enough and the portfolio is otherwise well-diversified, there's no rush.

Welcome to the group MarketTimer

I take it that you chose that name in jest? ;)

How did you find us?

I moved your Brinker Post to the discussion thread for posts of that nature (discussing his market calls, advice and mishaps) Click This link to be taken to the post. It got moved back some so many might have missed it.

Pathetic!

We allow you to make a home page and others are so scared of you that they vaporise the reference to it. I guess the server is located in Red China?

» Rande - Yes, pathetic indeed.

Yes, pathetic indeed. Someone asked where I "hale from" and what my background was. Figured a short-cut would be to link them to my bio here. Funny, I've made a point out of not self-promoting over there. When someone asks, I figure it's okay to respond. Guess not. The level of insecurity and paranoia that would prompt such a thing is such a total and utter turnoff. YUCK!

BTW -- It looks like the acorn doesn't fall far from the tree. Unable to post over at that other site now. Maybe someone could let others know over there. Just don't have time or inclination to get around it (unwilling to use an alias). The place had long ago become a Jerry-Springer-like zone lacking in edificication or usefull information, just a place of entertainment and, evidently, paranoia (despite some individuals' best efforts to salvage the place). Oh well, that's showbiz.

That's too bad. i really don't understand the reason for the blackballing of suite101 there.

» Kirk - Rande

Rande

I ONE TIME made mention over there that I had a newsletter and that was the end for me. I don't even do mutual funds (other than as a benchmark portfolio) and yet they got all bent out of shape when I told a guy to write a newsletter when he asked how to charge for his investment picks. I DID get a bit carried away and said how I was smoking Brinker's portfolio, but I appologised but it seems to have done little good as aliases are always referencing 'second rate newsletters and websites' to discredit me in other forums I participate in.

They banned links to us after Tony was plugging BOWG (now at $10 a share, I bet they wished they bought some rather than UTEK) but I think the real reason they banned mention of our site is Jen used to post links back n forth between the two sites and they didn't like the fact that we were better and more open. I was NEVER given any email warning that we would be banned but JR did suggest I not mention my newsletter again. I did one better and pretty much quit posting there.

Nuts don't fall far from the tree.

BTW, Motley Fools are having a good discussion about CSCO and MSFT market cap on the radio.

» SteveT - Pathetic is right

The server here was down for improvements last night so I went over to BB's site, first time in months. I saw the question but it had not been answered yet. Just goes to show which site has class. Look at it this way Rande, it gives you more time to spend here where you are definitely appreciated. BTW getting blacklisted there puts you in a unique group. smile

» DanG_6 - Rande, is it TRUE?

Have you really been BANNED from that site, or is it that you just choose not to post there anymore? I did see that one of your posts was removed, presumably because it contained one of those "dreaded" links to this site. Normally a link like that is just "altered" so it won't work directly, but I've never seen an entire post removed for placing a link there. And certainly no one has ever been BANNED for doing it. So, let's hear it from the horses' mouth? Banned or just "mad as hell and not going to take it anymore!"?

» gmoffitt - Found Ya Rande..

Hey Rande, hope it's not true that you were banned from the BB site. Any clue as to what caused it? I would be astonished as your posts are very informative and polite. God knows there are others more deserving there. Anyway, I find this site interesting and will lurk here for a while.

To BB's credit, I'm listening to his broadcast today, and perhaps in response to all the criticism on his site about his last couple of broadcasts, he did directly discuss the performance of his portfolios and his philosophy. He also allowed a disgruntled caller and marketimer customer to get through. We'll see how many others get through.

Take care
