Kirk,

You might as well be talking a foreign language if your'e talking common sense or right and wrong to these people. It would actually be better if they really were too dumb to understand that we could STILL be in the early innings of a new era of technological innovation and communication that will have broad and lasting benefit on a global macro level, even while that reality is beyond the ability of their speculative market-timing mindset to grasp. But as long as they have an agenda of mangling the truth to their own ends what can you do but give up on them and ignore them for what they are. All you can do is continue the effort to help and inform and share with others realizing there are twisted people out there who are bent on tearing down and misinforming, rather than building up and helping others. Thankfully, most of these Internet clowns are easy to spot for what they are and aren't likely to fool or influence anyone, except maybe to unintentionally demonstrate the idiocy of their approach by example. You just can't achieve honorable goals through dishonorable means and the truth will out in the end. Only the most sociopathic and self-deluded fail to understand that.

» Kirk - Bob Brinker, Rande and Kirk on B2B

Rande dug up some solid quotes, nothing taken out of context here:

CMGI. Seems like a version of a mutual fund play in the internet sector with great internet VCs running the show. I just wonder how much of a premium you are paying? (Kirk, November 29, 1999)

Brinker and B2B....too late folks. (Kirk, December 5, 1999)

Kirk, I guess your site is ahead of the curve. Some great ideas have come up on this thread FDX... As Brinker tries to reinvent himself weekly on the air as the internet sage. There has also been an internet fund mentioned here tef___ something I can't remember, or perhaps I'm simply to lazy to look through the previous posts to find it. As this fund will very likely be spotlighted in Janruary's MarketTimer, could someone please help me out with the ticker. (Pete, December 12, 1999)

Be careful with this fund, TEFQX, as it is going up sort of artificially. These internet stocks coming public now only release a small percentage of their shares. This means the demand far outstrips the supply of stock shares. The game is to have the insiders sell some of their shares at inflated prices before the price falls back to Earth when maybe the remaining 80 to 90% of the shares hit the market. I feel sorry for anyone who recently hopped aboard the B2B train as well. Unless they have the wherewithall and prespective to keep the long-term view in mind and didn't put all their chips in one or two vehicles. For the moment, B2B is a classic "greater fool" lesson. The guys I don't feel too sorry for are those who got in at .50/share or so (outside, small investors need not apply). It hurts to see your position go from $35 million to $21 million or so in a few days, but keeping in mind that the original cost was $56K helps. The long view suggests the sector will be on the leading edge of the New Economy, but winnowing out the less than 10% of the current group that will survive from the 90% or so that will go out of existence is nothing more than a crap shoot at this point. Diversification is key for those on the outside looking in. (Rande, January 8, 2000)

Just the tip of the iceberg (Bob Brinker, February 8, 2000)

Thanks Rande

In response to message posted by Kirk:

My pleasure. Just one correction -- "Tip of the iceberg" was actually February 8, 2000 (corrected at original post), though the official recommendation for TEFQX came in the January letter after a couple of months of casino-style hype on the radio and website.
