» RandeS - Lita,

Lita,

No doubt about that, plus the fact that he "owns businesses," not stocks. Not so much wondering about "reality," more investor perception. Since the shares appear way overvalued, one might assume there's some sort of irrational attachment to Buffett himself imbedded in the price. Not that I wish him any ill health, but it would be interesting to see what happens to the shares without the "magic."

» JenL_3 - The Buffet & Munger Show

Charlie Munger, the vice chairman of Berkshire Hathaway (BRK.A) would seem to be the logical person being groomed by Buffet. See the article that Michael posted from The Motley Fools:

Here's a great story about Buffett and his followers from Forbes. The Buffett magic probably is priced in the stock. Charlie Munger is a big part of this magic.

» KirkL - A very good friend uses BRKa as his largest mutual fund holding

A very good friend uses BRKa as his largest mutual fund holding and then buys stocks for the rest so I hear about Warren alot... 8)

I thought he was 80.
Charlie seems very well groomed, but like any religion, there will be a share price impact when ever Warren invests in a higher plane.

My friend said that BRKa/b owns Sees candies and several other businesses that are really hard to put a valuation on as a business.

I think Warren has warned shareholders his stock is richly valued and he feels compelled to find value to deserve it, but can not find it in today' s market.

just some snippets. Sure is a great man and investor!

Buffett is priceless, as far as I'm concerned. My academic leanings are no secret, and I am consistent in my support for the concept of "efficient markets." Nevertheless, I am grateful for the likes of WB because he points us toward the fact that the real world is often confusing and how investing can be as much art as it is science. Still....can't get over the irony that Berkshire Hathaway, at its current levels, is a stock that Buffett himself wouldn't touch with a ten-foot pole based on his own disciplines.

» KirkL - The Warren Buffett You Don't Know

Warren Buffett makes the cover of Business Week

This says it well:
Has there ever been a less pompous billionaire than Warren Edward Buffett? Hollywood might cast him in the role of an amiable teacher at a Midwestern college or a sweet-tempered, wisecracking inventor who eventually wins a Nobel prize and gets the girl besides. To hear Buffett sing his beautifully artless rendition of Ain't She Sweet to his own ukulele accompaniment is to wonder not only how such a man came to measure his net worth in billions but also whether he might not be a time-traveler from a more innocent age.

Much of his greatness, in my book, is how he has remained so humble. He readilly admitts to not investing in MSFT because he doesn't understand it, yet he doesn't belittle Bill Gates but, instead, seeks his friendship. That is greatness
