» KirkL - Free Offer

This company has a free offer to let you demo their software. Has anyone tried it?
Does anyone here use Level 2 software but not as a day trader, but just for good trade execution?

Nice site and worth a look if nothing else just to see what a level 2 day trading screen looks like. Just click the image below:

» JenL_3 - To All -

This post copied from the "Internet Stocks" thread:

Author: Karin
Date: June 29, 1999 10:07 PM
Subject: To All-

Did anyone watch 60 Minutes tonight?
There was a sequence about "DAYTRADERS" on the
program. It is a VERY risky business and not profitable to most.

The promoters are making all the money. It takes 50,000.- to get started, then you would need to get the "INSTANET" hook-up and commission expenses for each trade, which can be 100 or 150 trades per day. The person interviewed lost 200,000.- and got out of the business. He borrowed at 20% interest against his credit card. It is addictive and dangerous.-

Hope none of us ever gets suckered into this trapp.

» TONYBRIG - More on this tomorrow on CNBC

I dont want to (taut) you either way.
Caught only the last 5 minutes and they showed
a guy nonchalantly getting into his car after
a hard day at the Salon.
He (only) made 6k and only traded 85k shares
(circa)
But maybe tomorrow will be better.
Or maybe he will lose tomorrow?
Try to catch the Show!

» JenL_3 - Learning More

This post copied from the Bob Brinker thread:

Author: JohnK_6
Date: July 2, 1999 5:12 AM
Subject: learning more

Holden and all...

Remember Bob is attempting to relate to the general public and for those of us who have an appetite for more, I believe we should add more knowledge from other sources to the excellent and generally very rewarding guidance BB gives us.

I have found a daily show which is broadcast live from the trading floor of a major independent broker dealer which has as its goal the education of the active trader. If you have real player you can now listen to it as well.

Weekdays 3p-5p Eastern time.

Go to:
http://www.tigerinvestment.com

and click the radio button to hear it live, or investigate the archived show anytime at your convenience.

They are also adding realtime charts on their site which show you what they are talking about. The show takes lots of callers from all over the world and features market timing guests who share their market views, every day of the week.

I believe it is easy to get caught in the emotional trap of blindly doing what someone else seems to be doing. This show and some of BB's rules give us a free peek at the disciplines successful traders use to tame the emotions and help us realize every trade is never going to be a winner. You can make money in stocks. It's limiting how much money you lose along the way that makes all the difference.

Give it a listen.

» JenL_3 - Active Stock Trading

John - I agree with you. BB MoneyTalk has given us an investment knowledge base, and if we choose we can go to a number of sources to add to our investment education.

You told me before about the..

Tiger Investment Stock Trading radio show

12-1PM pdt or 3-5PM est M-F

I've listened a few times, and being a novice at buying individual stocks, it's kind of interesting to listen in on what the active traders are talking about.

Would you to elaborate on that paragraph? Tell us more about the disciplines that successful traders use.

I know you are talking about short-term trading rather than daytrading, but I copied your post over to this thread, so we can continue a discussion of active stock trading......Jen

» TONYBRIG - Interesting link John...................

And one needs a staff of gurus to formulate ones
own HEAD on a subject.
Bad idea to only back one Radio Man or whatever.

» TONYBRIG - Lost his shirt!

A wannabe day trader and ironically his name
similar to Shirt.
According to CNBC he got 1-1/2 days of trading
Savvy and a book and I guess a pep-talk by some
Saloon.
He would have been better off going to the
Pub and getting smashed.
Anyway lost 200k just like that and its too bad
cause if he had checked here or with ASK RANDY
or KIRK or even ASK TONY then we coulda shaped
him up some.
Oh well hope to have some GOOD NEWS next week
bout DAY TRADERS!

SEEYA!

» TONYBRIG - I think I got it!

Here's the answer in part:

The ones that knock Day Traders or Option
Traders or Nut Traders etc................
Have no HANDS ON EXPERIENCE AND OR ABILITY
TO SUCCEED IN THIS AREA!

Even some well thought of GURUS who are good
GENERALLY can do LOUSY IN SPECIFIC AREAS!

So watch your ASS(ETS)!
