» RandeS - Done prior to 11:

Done prior to 11:00 am. so should be cool. And I'm not overly concerned with a few more basis points one way or the other. 6.25% was the level where I felt the relationship between the potential for significantly higher rates vs. the potential for significantly lower rates favored the buy. Conviction -- you either go with it or you don't. Nice thing about zeros in the IRA is if you're wrong in the near-term you can always hold them for a more favorable time OR even to the maturity date and get a pretty decent return without worrying about capital gains on sale or imputed interest income if held for the long haul.

» skibldr - I am brand new at suite 101

I do own stock in bowg and have lurked here a few times. I finally decided to take the few minutes an join. What promted me to join is that I really like the concept here but have been to busy with other issues. so what prompted me to join today is that I am trying to find info on a company that is supposed to be up and comming its called
"Seychelles Environmental Technologies"
Call symbol is syev. Does anyone here know where I can find info on this company. It apparently has incredible patents in water filtration technology and manufactures devices for other companies to put there names on the bottles etc..

» Gene - Interesting Day Today

I was out fishing for a few hours and I got back just before closing and moved some more cash to GNMA, about 12 month's worth of monthly income as a form of DCA. I wasn't able to do the move to BTTRX today but maybe tomorrow will bring another opportunity to square that one away.

Just saw a market recap and it sure looked to have been a wild ride today in the Internet stocks - I'll bet it washed out a lot of folks in the 10:00 AM - 1:00 PM time frame! And they are still looking for a "wash out day" of > 1 billion shares to declare capitulation!

» KirkL - Welcome Scott

Welcome Scott
Several places to start.
Go to my Financial Links Page which you can find in the list of links above or click on the link I just gave.

Then click on Research Any Stock Free where you will be taken to a site that lets you enter in the symbol and get a TON of links. I have several other useful links on both links pages so best to just bookmark the links pages or remember how to get there.

I just tested this and got a ton of good links for "Seychelles Environmental Technologies"

Cisco came in with a hefty 21 cents a share. Management must have been reading Roger's comments here at Suite101.com, though, as they call for lower margins down the road. Seems reasonable. Only the overly exuberant who tend to extrapolate current experience into the future forever (you know, the ones who bought L.A. real estate in 1989 figuring they'd be rich in 5 years) would be shocked. Anyhow, good numbers.

» skibldr - Thanks Kirk and Rande, Unfortunately

I tried the links you gave and have tried other similar ones. They all come back saying no available info or matching items. About a year ago I remember seeing news story's on yahoo. but they are not available at this time. I am sure its out there somewhere. Thanks for the quick responses

Great spread in current Forbes on Janus fund family (where "Price is No Object"). In other news today, saw that Janus holds a 10% stake in Amazon.com. Now just where did you think all those previous gains were coming from? T-bills? Great example of the risk/reward equation and why some advisor are as suspect over volatility to the upside as they are to the downside. Having ridden the growth wave from 15 to 40 times earnings on average, where do the funds go from here? You know what they they say about past performance being no guarantee, but there's this tendency to chase performance nonetheless. Should be interesting from here.

Some rumors about trouble at a US insurance company sparking a little flight to quality this morning with the bonds. Shows how nervous the markets are when these negative rumors start flying. Beige Book comes out later today. Not much of a market mover, but only thing on the docket. At least the dollar is holding above 115 on the yen.
