How do I get to the "Investing Foolish Chatter" room. When I go to Chat and click that section of the calendar, I end up on Kirk's home page. What am I doing wrong?

How to get to chat

Click on where Jen writes "Weekend Chat" or just bookmark this link (they are the same) http://www.suite101.com/chat.cfm/investi...

I'll be there for a short while then off to enjoy a beautiful day windsurfing!

» Felipe - Formatting

I use Explorer for my visits here (on a Dell PC). How do I add bold or italics to my messages? I see the instruction but don't understand it. How do I execute the command for example?

» rina - Getting directly into the foolish chatter room

Felipe the reason that you end up at Kirk's homepage when you click on "Foolish Chatter" is that you are clicking on the wrong link. Instead, you should click on the link below it that reads "Room: Investing".

The first link on the calendar is intended to take the user to the topic page and the second link is intended to take the user directly into chat. Hope this helps!

» JenL_2 - Felipe...

...for instructions on using HTML in your discussion messages, like bold, italics, clickable links, images, etc, see Tim Younkin's Cheat Sheet on the Links Page:

http://www.timyounkin.com/suite101/cheat...

I noticed that you used the HTML for italics in your post but you forgot to close your HTML code for italics. You need to use a "/" to close your HTML tag. That's why Rina's post and this post is in italics, until someone closes the HTML tag for italics like this ......OK that's better. When you use HTML be sure and hit "preview message" and check your HTML before hitting "post message". That will keep you from making HTML errors.

You can click on my name to see the Suite 101 help page in my profile. Especially see the Q&A at the bottom of the page. Also feel free to email me for help in using our site......Jen

Quite by accident, I figured out how to do it when I saw my post.

By the way, court is in session again, over on the Brinker thread. Thanks for the response.

» Dirk - Jen,

How do we copy and paste an article in neat paragraphs and without all the sloppy carriage returns? Thanks!

» JenL_2 - Taking out the spaces

Dirk - I have seen a MSWord tip on how to eliminate carriage returns when copying and pasting a paragraph, but I sure can't remember what the tip was. Maybe Kirk remembers. But this is how I do it. Usually paragraphs copied and pasted from a website size up neatly without any adjustment. Paragraphs copied from an email always need to have the spaces removed. It's easier if you first copy and paste the paragraph or article into MSWord, take the spaces out, and then copy and paste into a discussion message. If you copy and paste an article directly into a discussion message you have to hit "delete" at the end of every line to get all the spaces out, and then hit "preview message" and go back and delete any spaces that you missed. It's a bit of a hassle, but your discussion messages will be easier to read if you take the extra effort to take out the extra spaces. Thanks for asking .....Jen

» Kirk - This should be in the tips thread.

This should be in the tips thread.
I'll answer there if someone posts there.

Hints. IE doesn't use carriage returns but Netscape does if you cut n paste

IF using Netscape OR IE, it is Best to use MSWord and then you can do mass edits.
