» JenL_2 - Predicting Trends

SKP - Well we didn't get a 1K rise, but the Nasdaq gained back about 61.3% of Friday's loss. Heck if you can use TA to predict some trends - no one expects you to be right on the money! :+)

Here are your links again (I don't know why they didn't automatically turn into clickable links in your post above):

http://www.geocities.com/WallStreet/Floo...

Thanks for the nice chart and for the information on Fibonacci fan lines and arcs. In your chart you have the 50 day and 100 day MA for QQQ. Now for a stupid question - it seems that Fibonacci fan lines are theoretical numbers - Can 50, 100, 200 day MA lines be used like Fibonacci fan lines?

SKP - Keep on posting!....Jen

» Kirk - Great stuff skp!

IE loaded new fonts to read the 2nd chart but wouldn't read them. I rebooted and they look wonderful! Good explaination of what Fibonacci is all about in regards to technical Analysis.

It is good to have some expertise posting regularly on this thread. I look at it as "mostly" tea leaf reading for long term projections. I do think MANY give it high regard and so it does predict what a segment of investors are doing or thinking and so it helps get better prices when buying or selling stocks. This is useful and I am not foolish enough to ignore tactics that help me make more money! 8)

I look forward to more of your posts on the subjects and TA charts.

Are you aware that you can upload charts here? We allow members to store data here.
Click "Functions" in the green Bar, then create your own webpage at Suite101.com and you can upload charts there if you need the space.

Welcome to the group! I am always excited about having people with expertise in an area I have very little post here.

It would be interesting to follow these guys and chart how they do.

I DO NOT RECOMMEND day trading, but following along for fun using Quicken can be interesting. Do it enough with enough "systems" and you can decide if they are something worth doing.

» JenL_2 - Cool Charting Site

This is 4/18 TipWorlds Online Investing Tip of the Day:

PROPHET'S CHARTSTREAM

Until recently, the best intraday charting program on the Web belonged to Quote.com, which runs a Java gadget embedded in the browser. It's a cool tool, spinning continually shifting real-time charts of major indexes and delayed charts of stocks.

Now, Prophet Finance, a progressive investor's information company, has released ChartStream, the next evolutionary step from Prophet's previous interactive charting effort. ChartStream aims as high as the Quote.com device but with the advantage of Prophet's characteristic tear-off capacity--you can rip this thing right out of the browser window and install it on your desktop.

From the chart, each company link displays a page on the Prophet site with a range of research links. On the chart itself, you can draw trend lines and apply other technical indicators in the Prophet style.

He should have used this URL instead.

The one he posted was a "preview image" URL that only the author and Admins can see.
Thanks.

» JenL_2 - Russell 2000

Thanks SKP for the Nasdaq TA. And here's some Russell 2000 TA from a free e-mail newsletter from ALFA Mdg Corp:

mailto:info@EquityInvest.com

http://www.equityinvest.com

Here is your regular update for Russell 2000 Index (RUT) for the week April 23-April 30, 2000.

Please, click on the graph below:

http://members.spree.com/sip/alfamdgcorp...

Russell 2000 Index (RUT) lost -4.39 or 0.90%, to 481.84. As consulting the Daily Chart, you could see the current retracement levels - Russell 2000 (RUT) is trading in downtrend channel between 518 and 419. The main support is near 440 area, MACD is Bearish, Relative Strength is weak, and Williams %R (10) is indicating Neutral conditions. This tells me that the Russell 2000 Index (RUT) is not ready for upper reversal.

RUT has declined 39% from its high of 615 which is very Bearish. Every time the Index (RUT) sustains some kind of a rally, it is just temporary - we are reaching lower highs and then test lower lows, also very Bearish.

The 10-Day Chart indicates a symmetrical triangle of trading between 480 and 487. The 10-Day Support is at 480, below 50-Day EMA and 200-Day EMA.....

....(RUT) should retrace 440 level any time soon, probably by the end of this week. This means if you are planning to buy small caps, you should wait a bit here, (RUT) has to decline down to 440 to re-test recent lows.
