I attended an event sponsored by my brokerage company last week that was hosted by Paul Kangas. I was fortunate to get a chance to talk to him for a few minutes prior to the start of the event.. He said that he would like to have Brinker on but that Bob had declined several invitations to appear. He said he didn't know why. I told him I had several thoughts about it, I said that I knew one of the viewers whose question he used in Brinkers last appearance and their was a question about a potential conflict of interest with Brinker and his relationship to the UTEK employee pension fund. I told him that Brinker took 60% out of the market in January 2000 and then he recommended putting up to half of it into the QQQ in November of the same year. The next day I thought of several other things that I wish I had said. I sent a E-mail to another executive at the NBR since I didn't have Paul Kangas's address. This evening he responded that he forwarded it to Mr. Kangas. I suggested he consider having David Korn on if Brinker doesn't want to appear.-- posted by JeffChristy » mysterytrader - Re: Re: Social Security calculator If you are skilled enough to invest / trade the markets and make a living on it, then file taxes in "retired" status, then you don't have to pay social security ( which they are trying to change possibly ). If he would stick to the market, he would be more worthwhile to listen to. At first the guest agreed. Then he said what he did believe in was rebalancing a portfolio. He said moving 100% in or out was a dangerous game. I only listen sometimes when I'm driving in my car. Which Bernstein was he interviewing? Peter Bernstein? I would be quite shocked if it was William Bernstein. I vaguely remembering that Peter Bernstein had switched over from buy-and-hold to a bit more flexibility with market timing. I don't know how Bernstein would define "flexible", however. Are the ratings declining? The first guest interviews were right after 9-11 and they have been sporadic since. It sounds like 2 interviews next week.....wow we are getting a lot for our money. I guess that confirms that he is going to be on....which is another change. It's a good idea in my opinion to offer differing viewpoints altho they are Bob's hand selects. I do appreciate the interviews. It will be interesting to see how long this phase lasts, Bobbie has always been so intent to dishing up only his line........ He seemed to be very positive on the market, from the little I heard. Maybe I will continue averaging in. -- posted by oldtown4 » jamesj24 - Bob Brinker's guest on auto makers I heard Bob's interview of the woman who wrote the book on how GM lost its place in the global auto market, and how the Japanese automakers (Honda and Toyota) are always a step ahead. She said people often commented to her that they were very proud of having bought a Toyota made in America, while GM has been outsourcing its jobs abroad for cheaper labor. She and Bob were talking TM up with glowing praise. I suspected Bob had taken a long position in it, and that TM would jump up on Monday morning. Surprisingly, it didn't, and in fact reached a new short term low yesterday. If he talks it up again, I'll know he's long.Bob's the guy many, including myself, love to hate. I think he's getting horribly worse in his old age.
